Cyber Paint .SEQ viewer and converter

Postby Waran » Wed Jan 26, 2011 11:26 pm

SEQ viewer
I recently added support for the Cyber Paint .SEQ file format in MultiShow.
This allows to play .SEQ files natively on any Java enabled computer (Mac, PC, Linux, ...).

In addition MultiShow also can show a struct view of the .SEQ format in order to analyze files.
(Struct views are also available for Neochrome .NEO and Atari .IFF DPST files)

SEQ converter
The SEQConverter converts Cyber Paint Sequence animations into:
  • Amiga IFF .ANIM
  • Microsoft .AVI
  • Apple QuickTime .MOV
  • Amiga IFF .ILBM image sequence
  • .PNG image sequence

The video frames are compressed with a lossless delta-compression method.
The compression ratio of is currently best with Amiga IFF ANIM files and variable frame rate.
The resulting files are comparable in size with Cyber Paint .SEQ animations.

The compression ratios of .MOV and .AVI have been improved and are now only about twice the size of an .SEQ file.

BTW, Orion_ wrote another nice tool to convert SEQ animations into GIFs.
It can be downloaded from his new site (see for 'Atari Computers / Tools / CyberPaint SEQ To GIF').
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The .DLT format doesn't seem to be a widespread file format.
It is also very difficult to get detailed informations about it.
This animation format is not even listed in the ST Picture Formats page.
From this point of view it probably wouldn't pay out writing a viewer or converter.

Thank you very much for the link! :D
The description seems sufficient and good enough for writing a decoder or converter.
... maybe these informations may be useful one day.
