Aranym for windows distribution please.

Postby MystikShadows » Wed Sep 19, 2018 1:20 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking for an up-to-date Distribution of Aranym. I've looked on sourceforge but couldn't find a zip or install that did anything. I heard later that they were on GitHub, and there either I can't find a windows distribution. I don't have time to install cygwin and compile it myself. so....Is there anyone here who has a link to a windows distribution that actually works. or can compile the windows version and make it available for download somewhere I can access?

Let me know and thank you all for your time in this manner. :)

Hi Gaiyan,

These install the source files, there is no distribution in them. Like I said, I don't have time to start trying to compile my own. Im hoping somebody already did that and is willing to share that so I can just install it.

Thank you.

Here
https://bintray.com/aranym/aranym-files ... sion#files

use the one with setup.exe as part of the name.
you will need the virtual disk for it.

Maybe I'm confused but isn't the exe file exactly what you're looking? Or what exactly do you mean by source files? Also, BeeKey is as complete a distribution as you can get. I've several versions on my Windows machine.

They are on bintray:

https://bintray.com/aranym/aranym-files ... sion#files for the latest snapshot version (compiled from current git sources)
and https://bintray.com/aranym/aranym-files ... sion#files for the latest release (1.0.2, but already ~4 years old). For windows you need one of the "cygwin" packages, either as plain zip file, or with a simple installer. Both SDL1 and SDL2 versions are available there.

This archives only contain the executables, no disk image or any software to use it. For that, you may have to look at AFROS or BeeKey.

Thank you WongCK I open a zip file and noticed the source. it was indeed the setup that I was looking for. I'm gonna try it with with emutos first, but right now there is this business of creating my hard drive which doesn't seem to want to work. in the console window it's telling me there was an error open the file for write and doesn't create a thing.

I saw the links, but was not stupid enough to try to click on them? Damn right I was, LOL. but yes, in the aranym Link, I clicked on a zip file which of course let me to the source code, not the distribution. Like I said, Im still trying to figure out how to create my Hard Drives, because so far, I see to generate an error in the console window every time I try to create a file of any size as my hard drive file.

And your beekey seems to be a problem to download for me, I don't know why, but I can probably safely assume that it's a damn problem with my service provider. but i would try it if the damn problems would stop. :) so thank you too.

For a quick look at Aranym, I just used AFROS. It is pointed out by Otto several post up.
It has enough stuff to muck around.

I have not begun to make my Falcon HDD image yet.
I supposed Linux users can just DD their HDD.... May be I will do that some time in the future for my Falcon HDD.
TBH, I have not used Aranym much, previously helping on some stuff for BeeKey and recently for a feature, but the feature was not as expected so I did not follow up.
