PCE (2017-04-20) Emulator & Simulator

Postby paulwratt » Tue Jun 13, 2017 2:46 pm

FYI there is a new version of this Emulator and Simulator, PCE
the info on the website (and to a certain degree) is from 2013, ie the STFM is about 100%, incl. sound
(Hampa Hug is due to update the website)

NOTE: I have not stress tested this emu, but (in the past) have seen a few demos running fine.

Anyway the main reason for posting here is the follow config:
STFM, TOS1.04, 2x 1.44Mb Floppy (images or /dev), 4x ASCI HD (images or /dev), 11Mb ST-RAM, Viking 1280x960 mono

with Dynamic CPU setting on a RPi2, GemBench v6 (B26) show ~860% CPU (STFM)

Combined with 11Mb ST-RAM, MyHatari is usable, so here is the Viking driver too.

(NOTE: this may also be the missing driver for the UNIX TT030 HD image floating around)

some systems available:
AtariST (STFM)
RC759 Piccoline
Classic Mac (Mac Plus)
CP/M machine
SimARM (v5)
SimPPC (405)

build from source is quite simple, ./configure output libraries used (found)

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info.
What is it actually? Is it a multi computer emulator or an st emulator running on different platforms?
What is the benefit compared to Hatari?

Firebee, Falcon, STE, Aranym Box, Hatari Pi Box.

Here is the website: http://www.hampa.ch/pce/about.html
Hope this explains. I have not used it myself but have seen references for converting SCP disk images in the past.

Nice to see new emulators for oldies. This seems as relative easy portable - well, maybe that was one of goals :D
As is, will hardly compete with popular Atari ST emulators for Windows, Linux. But some tablet v. , easy to use could be nice :D
Raspberry using basically same CPU as Android tablets, I guess.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.
