Anybody running ARANYM under FreeBSD?

Postby fmh » Fri Aug 15, 2014 12:30 am

Hello,

I just recently dedicated a PC to GhostBSD Ver 4. This is FreeBSD with Mate Desktop. It's a lightweight desktop FreeBSD. There is Hatari for FreeBSD but no ARANYM. There was an old FreeBSD Port of ARANYM 0.7.0 that is real old but I can not get it to compile. I have not attempted to compile the latest 0.9.16 yet as the FreeBSD Port should be much easier to compile. Is there any ARANYM users under FreeBSD? If so can I get the binary from you or your assistance in compiling ARANYM?

Thanks

hey,

building aranym for *bsd should be very similar to the linux one.

I guess you have to install the SDL1-devel packages first. Don't ask me for their names. I'm on debian linux

create a builddir and get the sources

Code: Select all

mkdir build
cd builddir
git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/aranym/code aranym-code

configure and build

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr
make depend
make

install it

Code: Select all

sudo make install

bye

I get as far as the Configure and Build portion.

At the statement ./configure --prefix=/usr

I get the following error

fish: Unknown command './configure'

Either configure needs to be executable (chmod +x configure) or you should use another shell (try e.g. dash ./configure). But I did not try it myself on FreeBSD as I don't have it.

Pre-generated "configure" scripts are typically included only in release source tar-balls. If you take source directly from repository, you need to generate that yourself with autotools (i.e. you need automake/autoconf/libtool etc).

Most projects include script for this, normally it's called "autogen.sh", also in Aranym: http://sourceforge.net/p/aranym/code/ci/master/tree/
