how to use a twisted cable {normal pc cable}
and two 1.44 pc drives {unmodified ones normal id1 as most pc ones are jumper or not}

wire 10 is a motor on signal
and as the st only supplys one then it gets reused from 16 the other motor on
so its normal for both drives motors to run at the same time when accessed
wire 10 from the mainboard is drive A select
wire 12 is drive b select

the one after the twist will be drive A before drive B

you can use the same twisted cable if your board has a socket and not the header {easy to fit everyone should fit one}
like st/ mega etc the only change is with ST level you need to connect a wire
explained above to the right jumper pad and pin 12 on the floppy cable or under the mainboard
from pin 12 to the jumper pad on W1 or W2 {depends on machine}

TT falcon or mega ste dont need the added connection as its there , already..

in any stfm ste or any atari machine with the daft header and poo small cable
one way
{keep these machines going!!!!}
look for the old thin 3.5mm low profile drives likes of amstrad laptop bricks
and rob them

it is a computer hardware components.For a change a ST FLOPPY soldering, wiring and test !BUT remember that this hack is not there to provide a SECOND drive to the STx but instead replace the A: one !

By the another way, I don't use the any other solution anymore but another one that I find out easiest and that avoid a GAL to be burned. I also get that it is very easiest way for changing a floppy.

sorry what i posted was to add two drives a,b to any atari stx tt or falcon
in the same ish space as one drive reusing a daft amstrad 286 brick laptop from 1993

to replace the A drive you just plug any one in and change the header as above
and before posts
why change the drive you can use ANY pc drive
however your far better to use pc floppys made around 1995 - 1998
for all types of disks to be fully supported
as the head size changes and most floppy drives massproduced since 2000 are only HD complient
and dont fully deep write floppies
look for old 486 and p1 take the floppy
any old case etc around the street
