LDW/LBC COMPILLER

Postby charles » Sat Mar 28, 2009 4:05 pm

Does any body like this program and use it much?

its a an advanced 68000 compiller for a basic styled listing ,
makes object linkable code from basic listings then assembles and links into
really really fast executable (.prgs)

i tried a few lisitngs and they all compilled well

gfa convert to lst - gfa basic
bas -atari basic
bas with line numbers -atari basic
bas -omikron

this thing is good
glad i got the manual .

now if only had the manual or the amendment for version two.

anybody know of the additional commands for version two?
.. its good i can add gemdos to some basic programs now ...as fast as asm!!!!!

You are probably the only one using that. That in itself should be a 'clue' or 'wake up call'. :)

My point is simple, ST-BASIC is a waste of time. I'll just stop now before the broken record syndrome sets in. See all previous threads about ST-BASIC that ended in disaster.

so eight bit users veiw this era as a disaster? ?
they went from xl dos or turbo dos to like gfa or some other basic.

basic is basic to me , no use kicking dirt over that ,

only one small element missing ... the gemdos
st basic is missing gemdos
and it bugs the heck out of me ..
aes vdi can be poked/peeked
but the gemdos is missing ,,,,

which means
no malloc!!!!!
no supervisor mode !!!
no others!!i haven't reached that far to dectect what i need .

maybe this is what enhanced basic possesed???

charles

oh and in the atari corp version lof does not compute properlly but it does in the second meta comco version ... then only to sacrifice and re establish the peek and poke for the aes vdi

however i did manage to get the call asm command to work in both versions
geeeee head ache all routes...any body got a midi thing written in c so i don't have to waste my time trying all the easy languages and reliezng they don't function properly

only asm will play midi files for me accuratlly...maybe c but there is no midi player in c avail.

Hmm, ok an odd 8-bit reference. Unrelated and doesn't make any sense.

You are wrong, basic is not basic. They all have pros and cons. I'm not going to go into comparisons... as I've said.. see previous threads about ST-BASIC, they all end the same. No one really cares. It's been superseded by so many versions of BASIC (which are much better) and other languages that it's just laughable that anyone in there right mind would even use it.

Since you insist on using this, here's your chance to get a manual:

But still, you just contradicted yourself. You have the manual, but version 2 only the disks, so really you don't have the correct manual.

Ok, my bad, didn't see the 1.1 in the one photo. Oh well.

At least the comedy continues... :D

No. The general differences are noted in a review of LDW v2.0 on the web and I have the ST-BASIC v2 manual. I don't use it at all though. If something don't work, or there are bugs in the compiler.... no one uses it, no one can help.. it's a dead end. Unless you hack it up yourself (extremely unlikely), no one will ever fix it or update it. According to the review the LDW manual is actually worse than the GFA manual, if you ever find it.

ok that private post was a request to you lonny about st basic version 2 ,, i was asking if you had that program for me to try.
i love basics and since ldw is the compiller for basic1 and basic 2
seems logical to find this missing atari st basic version 2..

It's scattered all over the net, on Atari system disks. The disks that were in the box if you bought a machine.

if i lived in france that would be omikron then!

but u must mean those "ATARI LANGUGE DISK"
i got four of those !

was it you i have i told you about these.

the versions from"meta comco "ones are buggy
as the peek and poke on the GB structure has changed

and the first one "ATARI CORP" version is good ,but the lof does not print to screen
or into variable .. so loading machine language segments is slowed down...

once a person comes to terms with the def seg option that sets the mode peek and poke operate under.

real glad its not 1986
right now and my passing mark was
riding on the functionability of some of these programs!!!!!

those old bunch soon learned and taught us a good lesson.

Version 2 is the one marked 1987 in the credit box. If it don't work right, then what I said is true, dead end...

I contacted Bogdan Blaszczak the author of LDW Basic Compiler and inquired about the source code. His reply was ... Sorry, I do not have sources. LDW closed long time ago. In case anyone else gets the same idea, now you know.
