Serial port

Postby darklight » Wed Jan 25, 2017 12:17 pm

Hey guys,

I want a program on my PC to be able to talk to a STOS program running in Steem. It is entirely possible my problem is with Steem, not STOS, so I've also cross-posted to that forum here.

I've configured my Steem serial port to be a file on my PC. I can write to this file with the STOS commands:

Code: Select all

10 open #1,"AUX""
20 print #1,"Test!"
30 close #1

if I run this, I see the text get added to that file. If I then change line 20 to:

Code: Select all

20 input #1,A$ : print A$

then the program just waits at that line, I guess not receiving any input from the port. Even if I write to that file using a text editor on my PC, then save and close the file, nothing happens in my STOS program.

So I guess my questions are - has anyone ever got 2-way communication happening over the serial port in STOS? Am I using the port incorrectly in STOS?

And can anyone suggest a better way of sending & receiving data to a program running in Steem?

Sorry guys looks like it was limitation of how Steem works with the port redirect file - they are write only it would seem.
