Yes, more like a simulation type of game actually than an arcade racer. No way to just drive flatout all the time. Even overtaking an opponent needs careful planning.

One very unique feature is that you can use second joystick as a gear stick.

First try: 2.55.4

Eheh Turbo Cup, first game that i (erm, rather my parents actually) bought for my ST.
It was bundled with a replica of the car, as pictured here : http://www.atarimania.com/pubs/hi_res/t ... _st_ad.jpg

You could also do this with Hard Drivin'

Anyway, I digress - will be having a game of this tonight. See if I can finally post my first STOT score :D

The 'trick' is to treat it like a real car. You really need to balance your steering with accel/brake. The hardest part after this is pre-empting what the car in front will do. My strategy is if I fail to qualify in 3rd place or better (approx 1:22.0) then I abort the race and try again.

Qualifying in 1:20.0 gets you in 2nd place on the grid, take 1st position by holding the inside line on the 2nd bend and don't lose your nerve or get too cocky! ;)

Also, use the keyboard for better control (S,X,Left,Right).

Finally, I found a weird bug when you use the keyboard exclusively (including track selection), after a couple of aborted races, the next time you start, the qualifying lap gets aborted - seems an additional 'Escape' can be held in the keyboard buffer. I found using the joystick for track selection seems to overcome this. Maybe this is exclusive to the MSTE? Every version I tried exhibits the same problem, so I imagine it was a bug in the original game.

My first score was the best 2'55'2. I really like this game.

- Smooth movements of the car
- Fast game
- Hard to master
- Funny to play
- Best is to do a looping :-)

2'39'4
It's only my second try, probably I had lot of chance !

ThorN wrote:- Fast game

The game must be fast on Mega STE or Falcon but not on 520STF/E, the lane is jerky.
Otherwise it's a excellent simulation, I like too ;)
