STOT s2 r12. Magic pockets.Used to be speak friend and enter

Postby christos » Sat Jan 24, 2009 4:00 pm

Magic pockets. Since elf proved to be unsuitable for STOT.
Sorry for the inconvinience but that's what happens with random things.

Ok, 82400 on the first go, but I've no idea what to do - I just ran around and shot things and tried the go-nowhere options on some objects until I died :P

This game doesn't seem appropriate for STOT because the enemies respawn :?
What do you think?

Desty: you must give the good objects to the characters that you meet.
Ex: plant seed to the bird = feather in return that you give to Indian !

Yeah I had the same feeling - you could probably find a good place to just crouch and shoot things forever, picking up hearts so you don't die.

It's a pity, the game seems nice :(
2 possibilities for me: we play at Magic Pocket for this round or it's a new vote !
Awaiting the response of kRadD and Christos :)

After I woke up (had a Kick Off session yesterday) Christos and I decided to do as Xerus suggest.

We restart the compo with Magic Pockets.

176900... note that when you die and continue, you carry the score you had when you entered the current level. So it's worth using your credits!
Annoyingly, the level I died on (can't remember what it was called... stupid bats jumped on me!), I found the exit and decided to keep killing things to maximise points. Then I died :P

Oh, a thought for the next round maybe - a lot of games recently, if you play carefully, can last for an hour or so. Perhaps it would be better to pick a game that is so hard that you're guaranteed to either die or win the game within 20 mins or so :P Although it's hard to balance that with the requirement for the game not to be completely annoyingly frustrating :P

Maybe we could try with the hardest game on ST (according to its author, Steve Bak): Yolanda

Maybe Saint Dragon, Dragon Ninja, Game Over 2. You guys have better overall knowledge of ST games - I only played 100 or so, whatever turned up in my diskbox... Suggestions! :coffe:

Aha, new post. Will check out those games - I only remember playing Nebulus, which was pretty frustrating... so it might suit us ;)

Saint Dragon is unplayable at times because of big slowdowns, it's very frustrating (perhaps at 16MHz would be good).
Dragon... nope, i find it easy :)
Game Over 2, i don't know, never played !
For Yolanda i have no idea too...

Heh, yeah, Dragon Ninja is a bit easy. I never beat Saint Dragon, even with the cheat mode on :P On level 4 or so, bad guys come from behind you, and rocks fly up from the bottom at some point. Pretty hard, even with the slowdowns... or I'm just rubbish

Still unplayable at 16 MHz (tested with Steem)...

So what about a suggestion Desty, Xerus, Strider? Any game that is suitable? We could then restart at weekend.

It's a good game to score but it is very long to complete so...
Who wants to finish the round 12 with Magic Pocket ?

Magic Pockets is a nice game - I just meant maybe a slightly faster, harder game would suit the next round... not that we should abort this one (again) ;)

Not necessarily a hard game (at the risk of discourage too many mates), a game with brief matchs will be the best way.

Missile Command, a good proposal ?

I think Magic Pockets is pretty ok, not every game has to move and flash like lightning.

20300 for my first try...
