Vsyncing with D-Bug advent callendar. Turrican.

Postby christos » Mon Dec 01, 2008 1:49 pm

As customary, D-Bug are launching this year's advent calendar. STOT will join with two sets of contests. At first, we will incorporate two games from their releases (yes we got to choose too), into our regular schedule. So at the beginning of the tournament, we get to play Turrican. Now playable on HD/MSTE/Falcon at 16Mhz. And it's smooth...
The second contest will be held on our cozy little place on the D-Bug forum. In that contest, we've synced the D-Bug releases so that every 4th day we'll have a new stot game. This contest is stand alone and it also starts with Turrican. So enjoy this Christmas countdown.

Many thanks to D-Bug for their continuous support of ST gaming.

Finally I found a good reason to play Turrican. I tried so often, but never got motivated. It looks so good, and the technics are so damned good, but I never found a key to the game.

Now I enjoyed it, and because of the score I think I will see more of the game.

I could remember when Paranoid / PDX once showed me the title pic and ask me do you recognice this screen? I said no. He answered have a look on your own wall, don't you see the Manowar poster there?

66700 for a starter - and I remember why I never played it much in the past. I feel a bit lost in the Levels....

I know what you mean Simonsunnyboy, I find myself at the end of a level but not really knowing how I get there, and knowing that I missed big parts of the level

Thank you for your warning, it is time as Schwarzy say 8)
Unfortunately i have no chance with this game...
I wanted to play on the Falcon but the Dbug version doesn't display the scores (on RGB) at the end.
So, i'm going to the emulation with Hatari and the Empire version available on planetemu.
I was quiet when suddenly at level 3-2, the game is sending a brutal GAME OVER, however i had still 4 lifes and 4 credits 8O

My revenge will be terrible

The score you got will probably still win you the competition :-p
But that must be very annoying, I'm sorry to hear. Luckily I will never get out of world 1-2 to experience this problem ;-)

Thanks for the videos Xerus, could you put them in any form on YouTube? I included a YouTube Gallery on the www.npoi.de website, where I could insert YouTube Links. So far there are "only" videos by Christos, so hopefully you could add yours as well.

Turrican has checksums and sort of copylocks (x5). Many bad cracks it seems ..........

Wow, it can be pretty hard when you

a) are lost and jump down a waterfall and die
b) walk underneath a spike which, rising above your head, kills you (!?)
c) touch one of those annoying big flying guys
d) have the shitty one shot gun :D

I continued my first game and lost my (crappy) score, and got to the level 1-3 boss (I think) who walked on top of me and killed me before I could blink, and then killed me on my final life within about 1 second :P I think I'd need to practice that boss with an infinite lives trainer before playing that far again, since he'd just kill me immediately again otherwise... 118500 though, not too dismayed for my second play.

Ragstaff:
Don't worry, this video is for everyone ;)
The quality is bad because i wanted a little video for a short download.
I can remake in a better quality if you want.

kRadD: For the moment i have not space on my HD (i have a laptop...)
My video of Xenon2 is too long for youtube (it's only 10 minutes) and if i want cut her i need many gigas for decompress it...
But it's the good month for change somes devices :D

Just one request. Could you also post your scores in text and not just with the image? It really helps, both for visitors and for us when we update the scoreboard. Thanks
Also.. great scores :)

Well, I dusted it down and got this far on a quick go after some years... and then I got lost and died. :D

Edit: Apologies Christos, 164950... I'll give it a go later on when I have some spare time and see if I can improve...
