STOT season 1 Round 20. Bob Fossil's Sudokuniverse

Postby ThorN » Sat May 24, 2008 6:55 am

We continue playing games from the scene for the scene. This time it's Sudokuniverse.

Here a link to download the game:

http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=50512

First of all, any suggestions about the gamemode are welcome.

Let's try to reach the highest possible level. In case of a draw, we can use best times.

I got stuck on that screen after several levels 8O :

That looks like a big fat bug! Level 10 boss with level complete gfx over the top - oops! Can you send me your save file pls? kevd /4t/ atari-uk /d0t/ c0m . If you reset & start the game again do you get that screen? Are you using the version for download on here or dhs or pouet? There was a preview from OL that should have not been released but some people have it as it was on dhs for a few hours. You can tell as all data files should be in a sub-dir, not in with the .tos files.

I still don't believe sudokuniverse is suitable for stot ;)

I think it's a problem of the crack we are using. Next time sh3, leave it to the professionals, ok?

Which file is it? Or are you talking about a Steem saved state file? I'm playing the game on a 4 MB Falcon (CT60 off) from hard drive.
That bug only occured once after completing a level. I'm using the version from pouet.
I got as far as level 14 without encountering that bug again. :)

OK, thanks for the info. I believe this might happen every time you encounter a boss. It was a bug on my list of things to fix & I thought I had - d'oh! Oh well, it's doesn't kill the game at least, just looks a bit poo ;) I predict you'll encounter a similar mess in 6 levels time

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking me.
When I get that strange screen (boss + end of level mixed up) I can't go back to the main menu.
After loading the game again, however, everything works fine.
I've reached level 21 so far. :)

No, I know. It's crap. I thought I killed that bug. Stupid me rushing to get it finished. At least it's not a fatal error, just quite unhealthy ;)

Another contest has ended. Being too busy with work and not a real fun of sudoku I didn't compete. So:
Xerus lvl 41: 8 points
cb: lvl 26: 6 points

Many thanks to both for participating. Oh and xerus... are we forgetting something? :P

Roughly 10 minutes my best time...
You are faster than me, therefore you're better

I have not methodology so my times are poor...
It was the first time for me with the sudoku and the last !
I don't like, no need think, memory, reflex, too motionless, simple etc...
Otherwise i like RG :D

Sudoku is a real man's game, not for joystick junkies :P

hehe, cluck me, why play something you don't like?! I think all you need to do is think.

Like I tried to say before, Sudoku is not a STOT kind of game, it's for loners who like logic not twitchy fingered joystick whores. Next time I make a game I'll put a non-STOT disclaimer & make sure there is no way to compare a score of any kind ;)

OT: This game has now made me start filling in the puzzles in the paper now - never used to bother before...

I guess I was put off by Carol Vorderman... No idea why, she's a fox...even if Benecol is a pile of w*nk with nut stabbing pins...

Anyway, congratulations for getting me hooked on sudoku some 10 years too late...

On topic: Erm, level something or other... I don't care.
