Suggestion

Postby simonsunnyboy » Wed May 21, 2008 7:59 am

As we have a constant top scorer for any game, I would like to ask whether a challenge is possible.
My own game, "Nucelar Waste Dump", has no "win" condition, sooner or later you will make a mistake and end with a score.
I'm curious which sorts of scores can be achieved with this...maybe we can make this the next tournament?
Alternatively I'd like to see you scores outside of STOT, just to see what's possible. I got around 5000 points once more most of the time I make some stupid mistake earlier than that ;)

Sounds like a good idea. To be honest that top scorer shaved my interest a lot to enter STOT competitions anymore. It's ofcourse not his fault to be a top ST-gamesplayer

Maybe a place for two leagues? One for hardcore players and one for the rest of us

Every league needs its Manchester United, Xerus  It's nice to think we might find a game we can actually beat you at (if only in our dreams)

Please don't! As I wrote earlier, it's not your fault that you're so good. It's ours, really

By the way, how about doing some speedruns from your entries? Would be nice to see how professional players complete these games. Sadly there's so little ST-versions shown on the net, just Amiga/console versions :(

As we talked already on #atariscne I like your Idea SSB to have a STOT compo with Nuclear Wast Dump. Our current plan is to have the next round with Bob Fossils Universal Sudoku and the one after with Picrossst. So in a mounth we could play it.

As we see with Pairs and Manical Drop, it's great fun to play games from the scene and the autor is happy to get a lot of feedback

There is also a game I wrote some 15 years ago which I like to see what score is possible. It called trios and I know that there are 132 or 142 levels, and I never managed to get over level 38 myself. So I think about playing it as well after NWD

StickHead,
thank you for your support :D
Note i have been beaten but it's rare indeed ;)

Marakatti
Please don't!

Yes but you are not alone in my humble opinion and indirectly it's my little fault.
Perhaps to create a liability for the first place the next season or i can be "hors concours" /beyond the championship; it's not important for me :)
By the way, how about doing some speedruns from your entries? Would be nice to see how professional players complete these games. Sadly there's so little ST-versions shown on the net, just Amiga/console versions :(

Example with Youtube ;)
Yes, i also noticed, but there is a good reason for that.
The Amiga community is better structured.
For example, a site exists for the long play !
http://recordedamigagames.ath.cx

I can register my speedruns with Saint but i have not space for a website.

If you need some webspace, you could put them on the netpublic of irataria page (www.npoi.de). I run this site to push the active atari gaming community, so I would be happy if you deliver some content

Lets's see. You could mail me your files, I will put it online, and then I could make a link in the atari wiki of atari-forum.

Gameplay videos are cool! I don't have enough HD space for a longplay (actually my falcon has a larger HD than my pc  ) but I can record a few minutes. Also whenever possible we should use real hardware instead of emulation.
