STOT suggestion thread. Features, ideas, game suggestions.

Postby christos » Mon Nov 05, 2007 9:57 pm

Seeing the interest that the feature idea (and our game selections ;)) sparkled, I am opening this thread so that we can all post our suggestions. So what features do you want to see in STOT? Which games would you like to see being played? What can we do to improve? Everything is welcome especially criticism. And before anyone suggests that we need a website where the contest should be held (;)) hopefully we' ll have that very soon since we are working towards it as time permits it (actually kRadD is the one working on it but I provide the moral support :D and that is the most important thing right?).
So, since we are going to do the ST can scroll take 2, I was thinking towards the direction of 1 vbl scrollers. Do you like that idea? Do you have any game suggestions?

In the meantime feel free to catch a glimpse at the scoreboard.

After taking the GBA version of ST Thrust to the RGC and watching several people fail to get off the first level, I'd like to nominate it as a possible game.

Easy first couple of levels but levels 5 onwards can be a real bitch :)

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Is there a Falcon fixed version of Thrust. . . . . . somewhere?
The original crashes on the title.
And Grav 2 doesn't work either!

If it qualifies -- BLAT!

I'm going to suggest some games that I'm particularly fond of; I haven't looked through the STOT archives to see what's already been suggested so there's likely dupes.

Ninja Mission
Virus (this also qualifies for level 5 onwards being a real bitch)
Metro Cross
Starquake
Shufflepuck Cafe
The Killing Game Show
Spidertronic
Magnetic Tank
Action Fighter
Oids (you'd have to specify a galaxy though)
Eliminator
Bellum
Strider
The Curse of Ra
Loopz
The Great Giana Sisters (although I completed this recently, so maybe it's too easy)
Star Ray
Better Dead Than Alien

That's a longer list than I expected!

-Ghost Battle by Thalion.
It's not the greatest but it's tough as nails and good for score competitions. Plus, it's got nice presentation.

-R-Type II
It's better than the first R-Type in my opinion, and it's a classic series for the purpose of attaining high scores.

Sentinel

There's no actual score list in it, but you could use the landscape number as a "score". ;-)
I love this game, it's still one-of-a-kind.

I would personally like to nominate IK+! Great score attack game!
We've done Rainbow Islands, so why not Bubble Bobble?
And there's always Tetris. What's the ST version like? We should definitely do a puzzle game, any suggestions?

I'd nominate Parasol Stars actually. It was the best in the series in my opinion! However, games like that are very similar to the already-featured "Rodland."

Well bubble bobble lost in the first poll. We'll put it back for voting in another poll, though much later. There are many ST tetris games but I am not sure if a puzzler will be appealing. I personally like them :)

Here's another question. 3d games. The ST had a few great 3d games in it's time but nowadays we are all spoiled by pc and console 3d gaming that old 3d might seem way too bad for our eyes. So would 3d have a place in STOT? Would you play it or just drop it after a few minutes?

Star Wars?
The games are not long, not too hard and maybe fun even for 2007 :)
So we should be able to find other games for STOT ;)

Yes, 1st part would be great. But does it run on all versions of TOS or even Falcon? 8)

I don't know but it would be a problem indeed unless D-Bug or Klapauzius, our 68k surgeons, operates :ehum:

It doesn't like non-European TOS versions (checks for 60Hz screen refresh), but I don't think it is too picky otherwise. I may be wrong though - too long ago... ;-)
