Shift+CMD+3 for screen capturing on the mac is faster than trying to make it work in Hatari IMHO. No need to worry about mouse, menus and whatever else. Just need to crop the result (if you're not in full screen mode.).
TT030: 4MB/16MB + Crazy Dots, Mega"SST" 12, MegaSTE, STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

Exactly: <Shift+CMD+3 than Space> and I will get Hatari screenshot with Mac OS X widgets in PNG and I need to go to PhotoShop to crop them.

...and I have plenty of screenshots to made for my atari software archive ;)

Mac porting of Hatari

Postby darwinmac » Wed Jan 15, 2014 11:45 am

Calimero,

Unfortunately, Jerome's OS X build is not generally available yet. That is why I attached it to my reply. If you try to change the monitor type from color to mono using the tuxfamily build with the OS X interface, it will crash Hatari. Jerome fixed that problem as well.

I am hoping that Jerome's changes are moved into Hatari prior to the next release. I do not have any confirmation of that though.

Mac porting of Hatari

I'm glad that version works better for you. The Hatari developers (I'm not one of them) always post here when a new version is released. Since the core developers use Linux, there's always a delay before the OS X version is compiled.

I just try video recording in Hatari 1.7.0 Mac version by T. Huth :)

QuickTime player X would not play this avi file at all
and QuickTime PLayer 7 will display black screen but it will reproduce sound at least :)

What is format of Hatari video recording?
as I can see from QuickTime Player it is "MPNG"?!?

is it possible to change recording format in Hatari and FPS?
(ST mono resolution will be always recorded at 71FPS!)

I just try:

AviRecordVcodec = 1

in hatari.cfg and I got RAW avi file :)
it is still 71fps but at least QuickTime now open it without problem and I can compress it! :)

Use VLC. There is absolutely no better video player than this.
I have purged all other players from my computer and my mind
to free up space for future use.

Hello
the idea of the video recording in Hatari is to record video exactly as it was produced (same refresh rate and no destructive compression) and then leave the compression's work to any specialised program you prefer, that will do the work hundred times better than what Hatari can do (except if we include the whole ffmpeg library in Hatari, which we don't want :) ).

Video recording is simple for the user, even if the resulting file can be huge ; then just use ffmpeg, mencoder or any video encoding SW you like to convert to the refresh rate you want and to a higher compression ratio (video is saved as either raw gfx (not compressed) or motion png (each frame is compressed lossless with PNG))

I used VLC for very long time (still use it on PC).
but there are far more better (in UI aspect) players for Mac OS X.
and I need standard MP4 file for web :)

and now I use it in this way :)
it is perfect!

it would me nice to include this option via User Interface :)

I run on another problem:

it looks like that there is no way to reorder files in AUTO folder if using GEMDOS drive (Mac OS X folder as harddisk for Hatari).

I try to rearrange order of files with SBOOT.PRG and I can see that he rewrite files in AUTO folder but when I look at AUTO folder nothing change :(

since I can't reorder files in AUTO folder, I can not install magic with nvdi...

beside, nvdi 5 froze in Falcon mode with TOS 4.04 ?!?
:megaphone:
EDIT: more interesting things: MagiC 5 instalation can not create GEMSYS and other needed folders?!??
I set 777 for folder which I use as Atari harddisk...

EDIT2: I just try to install magic to ASCI HD image and everything works just fine.
BUT now MagiC do not see GEMDOS drive! :D
and TOS 4.x (Falcon) does not see ASCI HD image :(

ok, I made more test. Conclusion:

If you use GEMDOS drive (folder on Mac HFS+ disk), Magic instalation does not see it as Atari C:

grab0007.png

notice that MAGXDESK.RSC does not have C:\GEMSYS\MAGIC ... in front!

result is that GEMSYS folder is not created!

grab0008.png

if you use ASCI HD image same installation looks like this:

grab0024.png

now MAGXDESK.RSC have full path!

why this is happening?

---

even more curious is that MagiC installer will create AUTO folder and copy MAGXBOOT.PRG even if you use GEMDOS drive!?!
I am not sure what is the problem: reading or writing to GEMDOS drive ?!

http://hg.tuxfamily.org/mercurialroot/h ... _emulation
Hatari GEMDOS emulation is a virtual cartridge that allows unsuspecting Atari ST software to see a non-Atari ST directory on the emulating platform.

is it possible to use GEMDOS drive from MagiC?

and why Hatari does not "see" ASCI HD image if I use TOS 4.x (Falcon mode)?
it works only with TOS 1.x!

I would guess that TOS 4 doesn't know anything at all about ACSI as there is no ACSI on the Falcon...

Ive heard that a Falcon does not use ACSI; and Hatari is an accurate emulator.

yes, yes... :) I somehow hoped that in emulator Falcon would support ACSI :)
