Postby Ian » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:36 pm

Been trying to hack a password protection (i cannot do it but thats done to my lack of skill more than anything) and have come across a few different cartridges for st, ultimate ripper v1 and v1.2

Are they any more out their in the wild as i could never afford them when i had an st so would love to have a play with them now.

There was the hackers cartridge which resembled MonST. But STEEM Debug probably has just as much power (if not more) than the old hacker carts of old.

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

You can't use in emulator anything except simple ROM-only cartridges (and then need to add 4 zeros at start of dump).
If there is more on cartridge, it must be emulated, what is not the case, of course.
Otherwise, as Mug UK said - use Steem Debugger.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

The problem I have with steems debug is it doesn't show all text that ultimate ripper does, I'll tell you what I'm trying to do:

I have a pasti image called space fighter that requires a password, using ultimate ripper I can find all the codes just not that is needed with steems debugger you can it only seems to show 3 or 4 ASCII characters in,a row.

Please near in mind I know absolutely nothing about coding and,am basically trying to wing it to get the game working to find out what it is for my tosec efforts

Dump the area of memory with the text in it to a file and then use a modern tool such as WinHex to view the text content?
