TT DIP Switches - Updating F030_Hardware_Register_Listing

Postby Cyprian » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:21 pm

I've checked with my little test application, that DIP switches in TT are mapped to address $FFFF9200. I guess the same is in Mega STe, I will check it later.
In STE/F030 that address is assigned to Extended Joystick Ports, but neither TT nor Mega STe has them.

TT DIP switches are numbered from 1 to 8. Each switch represents one bit in a byte $FFFF9200. Switch set to "ON" means "0". Switch 1 is the least significant bit (LSB), swith 8 the most significant bit (MSB).
The standard TT setup (below) is visible as value $3F

I think that the most appropriate place for that information is the Hardware Register List:
http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php/Ata ... er_Listing

Currently that page looks like hmm... a museum, snapshot of the past story and actually I wonder whether I should modify it :)

---Edit---
I see that Simbo discovered that a couple years ago :)

There is a description DIP switches http://gfa.atari-users.net/TT030/

I think you can just edit it, I created a copy of that page and called it Original:DHollisRegisters, and added a link to the original in the register listing that you want to update.
This is the best solution I could come up with, I had the same dilemma many times when everyone was first uploading original text documents to the wiki years ago.
I really need to go through the wiki and implement this more widely, creating "originals" pages in the pseudo-namespace of "Original:"

Regarding HOW to edit that page, I did start work on converting the CT60 and Falcon register listing to wiki tables years ago. You'll see I only got part of the way through.... but this is what I think the register listing documents should look something like

good hint, thanks.
what do you think about removing the header from that new hardware register page and leave only the table with registers?

I have removed the table of contents from the new, wikified register page (code is __NOTOC__, without that TOC is auto-generated from headings in the page... unless settings are changed in the mediawiki installation). Is that what you wanted?

Note that all TOC's have a "hide" option. E.g. see this page. "Hide" link is next to Contents

Also, I've just locked the archived, original document from editing by normal users.
...and in the active document removed the intro and started quickly converting the ASCII layout to wiki tables. Let me know if you think that's the right direction to take!
