"100K of Music" - planned MOD compilation

Postby simonsunnyboy » Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:08 am

Hello folks,

for quite some time I plan to do a compilation of Protracker MOD music. But instead of using existing one, I'd like to release a compilation of MODs done by active Atarians.

The concept for this prod is as follows:

* disk image release for ST use - MODs will be packed here
* file release for Falcon and PC use
* small STE only intro screen featuring one of the MODs from the compilation
* ST/STE replayer software
* NO shell - all MODs can be doubleclicked and copied from the desktop

I'm currently working on the intro screen and I hope to have it working before Christmas.

Now it is your point to submit your MOD music according to the following specifications:

* ProTracker ST/STE compatible .MOD files
* per person you may submit a maximum of 100KB of music
* this 100KB may consist of more than one MOD file
* please do not pack your music - i'll do that for the final release version
* deadline for .MOD submission is January 8 2006 - the time stamp of your emails counts
* submit your MODs to Simon Sunnyboy / Paradize <marndt@asmsoftware.de>
* you may submit a small ASCII file with logo to credit your MODs

You may ask why I choose the 100K restriction? Well the purpose is to fit many nice MODs from different composers onto the disk.
If this project goes well, there may be further MOD compilations in the future.

Planned release is around January 15 2006 but don't hold your breath if I miss that deadline ;)

You can consider the deadline to be extended until February or so!

The intro will feature a track made with maxyMiser DMA btw. - Marcer will do his best to produce awesome sound for this one :D

Yes tbh! It is not completely forgotton but due to lack of time and no response of musicians willing to help with .mod files, this project is shelved. Not completely forgotten but let's say honestly it is in a frozen state.

I'm sorry :(

Sorry I missed this thread the first time around. I got a few MODs you can have for your collection. How do you want me to get them to you?

[UPDATE : just re-read the 100k restriction. Time to look at lowering my sample rates!]

Well, if you want to release them anyway, we can make a pure NiceguyUK disk. The main focus was to have sevral muscians on one disk but I'd go for a single musician disk as well.

Drop me a note if you are interested! I need some small project to have motivation to code Atari ;)

Yeah, I got them! What I'll do? See if I can hack some useable intro together and do a moddisk ;)
If you have some special things, e.q. pics or the like, around and want them included, give me a shot.
I assume the one using gmail and Jabber is you? So we should have a chat there..

I also missed this thread and have done a few mods in years gone by. Most of my music composing however was done in Quartet. Let me know if you'd like to hear any of my stuff.

I prefer Protracker MOD for compatibility reasons. There is a replayer for virtually any platform available while Quartet is probably limited to replay on Atari (and perhaps not even on F030).

Well as I said I've done a few tracker MOD's as well so I'll see what I've got on my Falcons hard drive later. As for Quartet there are definitely players that work on the Falcon although Quartet itself doesn't. Incidentally I believe Quartet support is due to be added to WinJam some time soon.

Yes ofcourse :)
If you want to supply even more, feel free. The 100K limit was meant for all packed mods. The mods themselves may be bigger than 100K ofcourse.

Actual my original posting was misleading. "100K per artist" was really meant after packing. Any stuff that is not used in the first issue might find its way into a successor prod :D
