Alien Storm cracked menu music

Postby Britpop95 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 6:59 am

Hi guys, this has been getting on my nerves for close to 20 years and i've all but given up hope of finding this out with Google searches so unless I just happen to stumble upon it by pure chance this is probably my best shot at finding the answer.

Anyway, many years ago I had - as we all probably did - hundreds of copied games cracked by Fuzion, Medway Boys, Pompey Pirates etc etc

One of the games I had was Alien Storm - now I can't remember whether any other game(s) were available to select on the menu screen or whether it was stand alone and I haven't a clue who the team was. A little bit of research on the matter seems to suggest that the one I am after comes from either Blues Brothers, Fuzion, Superior or The Syndicate.

As far as I remember the actual game (Alien Storm) was rubbish but I just absolutely loved the music which had some softly driven kind of lead guitar solo style-thing.

I'm sure all these years later i'll finally get to listen to it and wonder what the hell was so good about it but i'd love to hear it again nonetheless.

So, not really expecting to get an answer but if anyone out there can help then i'd be enormously grateful. Just incase I don't log back in for a while please e-mail me at Britpop95@hotmail.com

Oh and i'm not exactly the most technical computer user out there so if anyone does happen to have the disk and can convert it to an mp3 or put it on a link or whatever then that would be amazing.

Thanks!

If you're looking for the music of Alien Storm, try here : http://sndh.atari.org/sndh/browser/index.php?dir=sndh_lf%2FDavies_Mike%2F

You'll need also the player, so grab it here : http://creamhq.de/jam.php

Never play the game, but some in-game music are nice :)

Hi thanks for the reply but unless i'm mistaken I think you have misunderstood my question.

I'm not looking for the actual Alien Storm official in-game music - but the music from the menu (press F1 to select this game, F2 to select the other etc) that was created by the crack team.

Like I say, it's almost a needle in the haystack job but i'll find it eventually.......

ok, i wasn't very sure in fact..

Well, for the menu of Alien Storm, try those ones :

- Blues Brothers 17
- D-Bug 21
- Superior_93A
- Fuzion 101
- Pulsion 138
- SyndiCate Delicious Disk 55

Some of them are avalaible on planetemu : http://www.planetemu.net/index.php?section=roms&dat=368

If the menu you want isn't on this site, i'll try to get the other ones, just tell me :)

Thanks my friend - two small problems, though.

1) It's in French.......

2) I can't download ANY files - it usually comes up with 'you do not have permission to view this page'.

Perhaps you need to be registered to view but as it's in French, I don't know how to register.

Just click on the link you're interested in then click on 'Telecharger'
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Nothing quite like replying to a post 18 months later!.......thanks for the tip but clicking on 'Telecharger' doesn't do anything. I'm using an iMac so that might have something to do with it and a PC might play it, who knows.

I'll continue to investigate but looks like i'll have to physically get hold of all the menu's with Alien Storm on until i've found the specific one I want. To top it all off i'll probably listen to it all these years later and think it's rubbish :D

Hi,

If it was digi music then it was probably a Pompey Pirates menu as they used Quartet alot? not really aware of any other digi biased crackers!

Thanks for that Spiny - it's much appreciated although.......you know what's coming.......sods law has it not being any of those so looks like you guys have helped me whittle it down to either Pulsion 138 or Syndicate 55 - both of which I can't find on any of the Rom sites. Obviously!

Like I say, it's a nigh on certainty that when I do eventually hear it again after 20 years i'll wonder what the fuss was about but until that day arrives it'll remain one of my favourite bits of ST menu music! :D

Syndicate Delicious Disk 055 is available online but the crack menu has no music :(

I guess that just leaves Pulsion 138 (which I couldn't find anywhere).

Haha isn't that just typical! :D

Well at least it looks like I can finally (maybe) nail what menu disk it is so that's an achievement in itself. Thanks for your efforts though - enormously appreciated and if you ever do stumble upon it please let me know

7 & a half Years later........stumbled upon the answer today watching/listening to a Fuzion compilation on YouTube. It's Fuzion #144......so Rubicon, then. So much for me insisting it was Alien Storm! I can picture Alien Storm on a cracked menu but I played hundreds of games back then so I suppose over time the mind has played tricks.

I downloaded the file and listening to it takes me right back, it's the early 90's all over again. Tsk, nostalgia! :D

So the tune is Pablo and the Gold of Montezuma (Subtune 4) by Mad Max.
https://demozoo.org/productions/84027/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ui0ye2a_HE (46 minutes in).

It's a nice intro that looks full screen in Steem.
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM, 2.5Mb STF.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

Thanks, yeah that link you posted is the one that I found. Shame they cut it off after just a few seconds but that's when I searched for it on Google and downloaded the full file instead.

Wasn't aware the track was on an actual game though called 'Pablo and the Gold of Montezuma'.....just looked it up and the credits list Mad Max as Jochen Hippel. Didn't know that either!
