ok here we go.... have fun and let me know what you think (crosses fingers)

To Install:
Download the two halves of the zip file.
Create a new GBST database using the GBST toolbox
Choose DemoBaseST.mdb as the database
From GBST (set paths), choose the SCREENS folder as the game folder
Choose the SHOTS folder as the screenshots folder
Make sure you use the STEEM 3.2 GEMUS script that's included to allow you to play memory screenshots

Sorry the installation process isn't too elegant, but my custom frontend (when it's finished) will skip all this ;)

Although I am not obsessed with Demos I like the idea of having them all in one package without any of the loading, finding the disk etc, just straight into the action :wink:
Also I like how this will work hand-in-hand with GamebaseST as I am obsessed with games, me :) .
Nice website BTW :wink:

Hi Dave

Great stuff with website and the release :!:

From the website you stated:

A handful of the screens are not set up with the correct TOS, or have some other issue which causes them not to display properly. This will be apparent from the screenshots of the demoscreen. Please let me know of any fixes.

If you use GBST's Steem or SainT scripts you can force the emulator to use a particular TOS for running the demo. the same goes for memory, fast disk accessing, etc, ect.

For example you can pass the following (highlight the demo and press F2):

TOS=1.0
Memory=512k
NoDriveB=Yes

Steem will then run the demo with this configuration. There are quite a few more options like turning borders on and off, however, its best to look at the scripts themselves to see what's avialable and useful :!:

hey everyone. has anyone had the time to trial this for me? im soldiering on and now have 410 screens in the database with well over a thousand screenshots!! i wonder if anyone is able to host this because it has quickly grown out of the scope of my own web site (file size is currently approx 75mb).

It's looking good Dave but I think everyone is quiet because of the boring World Cup, just can't stand it myself. BTW. The website also looks good and something Jeff Minter would be proud off :P

from here: http://www.gamebasest.pwp.blueyonder.co ... nloads.htm

DBST is still in its infancy and at the moment the version up for download kind of assumes you know your way around GBST (and for a novice, setting up the paths can be a real ballache).

im working on a custom standalone front-end which knows exactly what's going on!

Just thought id update you all on how DBST is coming along. We are now sitting on 532 demoscreens (v0.53), from 38 megademos (plus some stand-alone screens such as the BIG demo etc.)

The web site has been updated with these changes, including a list of which megademos are included. Unfortunately still only v0.26 is downloadable due to hosting limitations. :(

Work continues (at a very slow pace :oops: ) on the front-end...

ok seeing as i have had to shelve this project for a while due to work problems, I am willing to release v1.21 of the database, along with the front-end (in its current state) so at least people can enjoy it while they are waiting for me to catch up!
is there anyone willing and able to host a 240mb file?

Why don't U share the project on eMule. That way outsiders will stumble across it & download it also. eMule shares what you are downloading so the file will take on a life of it's own & you probably won't have to share it for long yourself.
