Still, I'm not complaining ;)

I'll hold off on getting this new lot though until it reaches http://gbst.atomas.com/ though as the downloads there are lightning fast :).
Hopefully the chain from Paul at Edonkey----------->Megar at http://gbst.atomas.com (probably via retrogamer somewhere) won't take too long.

Could GBST 3.1d be available for download as a zip file instead of rar? Most computers nowadays can inflate zip files, but rar files require WinRAR.

I will be uploading it to Usenet in RAR format, but then if you pay for usenet then Paying for WinRAR shouldn't be a problem....

I don't use Usenet. However, I was referencing to the download at http://gbst.atomas.com/ (that is why I quoted that post...)

There's plenty of free archivers out there that extract RAR files, which are compress smaller than ZIP.
Tugzip, 7-Zip, IZarc on windows, unrar-free and probably ark on linux.

I got the free rar unpacker and it worked great! Now I just hope that the extras are posted on that website soon...

Same for me, currently Both Goldrunner and RetroGamerUK have access to the ftp of the hosting website.
RetroGamerUK told me that he will upload them when he will receive the dvd that Goldrunner will send him.

Any news ?

Not got the DVD yet :|
The first one I was sent had errors, its always important to put things in large archives when using DVDs / CDs, that way any errors can be detected easily.
Indeed if/when I recieve the archive I shall put it on Usenet and upload it to that hosting website.

Thats all I know :)

Since 3.1 extras are not available yet, does anyone know where I can get the extras for 2.4 to use with 3.1?

Since I doubt that the 3.1 extras will be released (Hey Goldrunner, why do you hold them just for you ?). I may put the 2.4 version of them online.

If nobody answers me, I will put them back online in about 2 weeks...

If someone can speak to Goldrunner, or help him, etc... I know, his personal life is more important, but pakcing the files and burning them to dvd and sending it to someone should not take more than 1-2 hours.

As soon as I get the DVD, or someone upload them on my FTP, or anywhere else, I will put them on the web site so that anyone will be able to download them.

GBST is a huge, incredible and successfull project, mainly thank to Goldrunner. Please do not let the project die without first releasing the last version to the world !

If it's a money issue, i would offer to donate what is needed to release the extras to the GamebaseST PayPal account.

Just say a word (or a number).

Please bring the GamebaseST Project to a kind of consistent version status.

Thanks.

I don't believe it is about money really, its a simple case of Goldrunner not being around these parts for a while, and since nobody admits to having a means of contacting him other than via. this forum then it is impossible to know exactly what the situation is until he returns.
I am not defending or criticising him for being absent as I do not know why and have no proper means of contacting him.
I believe he will return, but as for when.... I have no idea :|

That would be great! :) The extras really are a great addition and I only have the version 1.2 extras.

The V2.4 Extras are still available on the edonkey network.
ed2k://|file|Gamebase.ST.GBST.v2.4.rar| ... 3087BC5B|/
I will keep this shared until the next version comes out.

That link does not seem to work for me. I fear I have absolutely no idea how to use it. :?

Just a question about P2p 8) ...

Do you know if it's actually "correct" to use it again?

In the past I've used Audio Galaxy, Sharebear, Emule, Edonkey, Shareaza plus a few others. In my time using them I found the only defense was to use a program called 'Peer Guardian' which checks any IP address trying to connect to you against a known list of IP addresses from Media companies. If the IP range matches, it stops them connecting to you. That way they'll never see your IP address so can never get you for illegally downloading things. The program gets updated often buts it's still not a 100% way of not getting caught.

There's also a program called Block List Manager which does roughly the same thing. Using the two programs together will lessen your chances of getting caught.

Nowadays I just use Bitorrent. Simply because P2P programs have too many viruses in them, some people only share 99.9% of a program and think it's funny to do it. With bitorrent it's found out very quickly if there's something wrong with a file and reported on. Try to stay away from public bitorrent sites such as thepiratebay.org and Mininova as it's easy to get caught by the media companies that way. Although you can still use the two programs mentioned above to lessen the chance.

I only tend to use P2P for porn and the occasional single audio track (using Emule). For anything else I tend to use BitTorrent (using Azureus) mostly via Demonoid.com
