Cricket simulator called ST-UMPED

Postby markgir1967 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 9:55 pm

Hi

I'm looking for some help. In the late 80's / early 90's, I had an Atari 520 STFM, and used to have a great freeware / shareware cricket simulator, called ST-UMPED. It was a text only game, but it used to keep me amused!! I'm trying to track it down, and wonder if anyone on these boards can help.

I dont have any information other than the name of the game, and the fact that I ordered it through a blue booklet, that had loads of shareware / freeware games in it. I know this isn't much information, but any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

If you can help me, email me at markgirdlestone@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks for reading this, and thanks for your help,

Mark.

St.umped

Postby pnr8uk » Sat Sep 17, 2005 7:22 am

I remember st.umped really well. We played it for well over 10 years every week, before deciding it was time to engage in more physical activities (it's an age thing). We had at least 30 A4 folders full of score sheets of matches gone by and even produced our own Wisden.

I even wrote a programme to keep statistics in STOS - we were trying to extract the information directly but failed each time. Did anyone else manage this?

I went to the link suggested in the previous thread and downloaded the cover disk and popped it into steem - it worked!! Now I'm back where I was 5 years ago! It's still as brilliant.

You are going to need STOS still though you can get that here:

Enjoy.

Did you send your £5 to R Hill?

Or compile it with the super-version of STOS on exxos' STOS site and it will run a bit faster and also on multiple versions of TOS :)

*But* you'll need someone who can fix the bug when compiling it as Compiler says that there's an undefined array on line 1167.

I'd have a play but Burnout Revenge has just loaded on my Xbox .. :)

(for now: set STEEM to run at twice or three times as fast ....!)

Right, after fixing two errors (dead code left in the listing) ... one dead bit of code is on the 1167 line and then there's a further line in the 8000's which has two lines of code merged into one. So I've removed the end
part and now it compiles.

I've recompiled the game using the latest "run on all TOS versions" STOS.. but as soon as you get past the intro screen, it crashes and burns with an Error #13!

Does this game use any external files as I can't see any in the listing (other than it's own saved game files)

Anyone got a STOS compiler error listing to tell me what error #13 is so I can go hunting this bug?
