There was a 3D maze one on a magazine coverdisk but I forget the name. Loved it at the time though.

#2 is thinking of 'Midi Maze' - brilliant multiplayer maze battle game. Up to... eight players? Each on their own ST with all the STs linked together by a ring of MIDI cables. This is the only MIDI networked game I personally know of.

Using an RS232 serial link instead, there were quite a few two player / two ST linkable games such as 'Stunt Car Racer' and not a few flight sims - most of those were limited to two player dogfight but a few went further - In F15 Strike Eagle two players on two linked STs could crew the same F15, one as pilot and one as the GIB (Guy In Back) doing navigation, bomb aiming, countermeasures etc. In 'Flight Of The Intruder' there was a two-plane co-op mode and each player could choose either an A6 Intruder or a Phantom, so one could fly escort for the other. It was pretty magical to look out of the cockpit and look across at your wingman and realise that other plane - the one which had just shot a MIG down off your tail - was being flown by an actual person.

It's a theme much expanded on and taken to ultimate possibilites in PC versons of Falcon from version 3.0 onwards, but ST 'Flight of the Intruder was where I saw it first.

MidiMaze can support up to 16 players. You can download the most recent patched version of Midimaze II on midimaze.de. It even runs on TT and Falcon. (MIdimate I does not)

There are also some of the Oxid/Esprit series games which support Midi connection between two computers.

You also can use serial cable with these:

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 2
Popoulos I
Popoulos II
Stunt Car Racer
F16 Falcon

The special thing is on these, that they also exist on .... tataaa ... Amiga. SO you can even lionk ST and Amiga and play against each other.

Following some Amiga games which support serial, maybe they also exist for ST:

Armour Geddon
Battle Chess
Days of Thunder
Empire
F-16 Combat Pilot
Fire Brigade v1.11
Flight Simulator II
Hard Drivin' II
Honda RVF
Hover Sprint
Jet
Knights of the Sky
Lotus Turbo Challenge II
Lotus III The Ultimate Challenge
Matrix Marauders
Moonbase
Overdrive
Powerdrome
RVF Honda
Super Tetris
Vroom
Vroom Multiplayer
Zombi

To add to this, I *think* most of the games that you can play over serial will also work with a Null Modem with an Amiga. Back in the day we'd play Stunt Car Racer and Populous 2 this way. The Atari ST version of Populous 2 had a tweak where if you hit F9 you'd max out your mana. My brother accused me of cheating a few times when I trounced him. I didn't cheat, I swear!

With Hatari, (on Linux) one should be able to forward serial and MIDI connections over internet using e.g. "socat":

We also used to play Stuntcar Racer and Popoulos I/II over serial in old times. And last year, on 30th anniversary of Amiga and ST, on our HomeCon computer meeting we did that again, an Amiga 1000 and 520ST+.

And one tipp, if you do. ST isa little bit faster on many of these games (8 vs. 7.14 Mhz and Amiga chipmem is slower than ST-RAM). This gives you a little advantage over your counterpart sitting on the Amiga. For example with Popoulos, the person on ST has little advantage over his friend...

Ha, with the speed up, I have to wonder now if I was playing it at 16Mhz (Mega STe) vs 7.14Mhz (Amiga 500). Seems to me populous wouldn't work at 16 though, but pretty sure stunt car racer would.
