Jack the Ripper ? Cyberdome ? (+PD/SW games by Obsession dev)

Postby dma » Fri Aug 19, 2016 12:43 pm

Does someone have information about some games listed in this article on Obsession (from UDS) :
http://www.atarimania.com/reviews/hi_re ... 994jul.jpg

I read :
What's next?

More games that push the STE to its limits naturally.
Jack the Ripper, a platform game, is coming up in December (1994),
followed by Cyberdome, a shoot'em up.

I also read that Peter Zetterberg (Obsession dev) released some intriguing PD/SW games : Smash Hit, Mega Lines, Laser Chase 2000
Any idea where to possibly get those?

Sorry to bump this without a contribution, but I really hope you find some leads on these. My ST game knowledge is fairly extensive but these do not ring a bell with me.

Marcer is planning an update to his GameDVD with a focus on PD so maybe he's the one to ask about the Peter Zetterberg stuff.

Never heard of the games at all... I guess they never made it after their early dev stages.

Out of curiosity, I thought I'd search the Amiga databases for these.
There is an entry for Jack The Ripper (unreleased). It's not listed as UDS but was scheduled for release in 1994 (maybe a coincidence?):

Dal: Well it does not look like a platformer... so I guess it's different titles.

I also couldn't find any reference to those two titles on their old website:

So i tried those Unique PD games, good gameplay!

Laser Chase 2000 is based on a fun early arcade maze-racing game.
Mega Lines is a pretty playable tron game, for 2 to 4 human or CPU players.
Smash Hits is a good tennis game, which is even certainly pretty fun with 2 human players, no wonder he did a second "+" version.

Funny thing is that elements in these titles feel like Obsession or Substation. :)
Intermission screen in Laser Chase 2000 feels a bit like Substation intermission screen.
Smash Hits menu cursor movement and fadeout feel like Obsession menus.
Well, a coder can be recognized by his routines, eh. ;)
