I can only assume that the monitor is what's pushing the price up on that auction? A MegaSTE should be about £40-£50 in good condition (to my mind). Mind you, there are still some idiots out there buying STE's at that price c/o Ripoff-Bay :)
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Our French and German friends are lucky that such Atari kit is common for them. I would give my left arm for a MegaSTE for £50. (Especially now that I have found out that Mega 1 isn't so mega thanks to a duff DMA......)

Ooh! You can go off people you know!

(I hope the sentiment of that translates into French. If it doesn't it was meant as a joke.)

I paid about £120 (approx) - it was many moons ago and the post is buried inside this forum somewhere! - for the Mega STE and tons and tons of other other stuff, including almost 2000 floppy disks :)

The reason why I posted is in the new year I will be looking for another ST with more memory and a higher spec. As I said my new Mega isn't as mega as I first thought. A couple of weeks ago I was posting about its failure to see my external floppy drive. Well I have just purchased a SCSI drive of Alison and it can't see that either. Alison suspects a duff DMA bus. The Mega's configuration just made better use of desk space. It isn't an entire loss, it is a lot more portable than a conventional ST, and I can still use for text entry etc. with the floppy. And apart from the DMA business it is in good condition, clean, with a new floppy drive. I just thought it would become the base for my ST activities. The person who sold it to me has another Mega for sale on e-bay listed in the video games section. And an STE with 4MB.

OK, I am currently offering a bunch of ST games on eBay - but I don't know which ones you already have, so here's the link (ah yes, some other Atari stuff and several CDs are also there):

OOh .. another "power seller" (aka selling old stuff but dressing it up as "rare" and charging silly prices for it!)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-VINTAGE-ATAR ... 240%3A1318

1) Box is in good condition for its age - the picture shows it's completely crushed!

2) £4.50 starting plus £2.60 for postage ... hahahahahahahahahahahaha - dream on!

3) Anyone who can't copy the name of the game off the box in front of them deserves being laughed off eBay :)

Just looked at their other stuff .. jeez, they *all* start at £4.50 plsu £2.60 postage. The seller is in La-La-land!

He might even get the 4.50 for one or two of his titles, but as the photograph of "Carrier Command" is so bad you can't even see whether the soundtrack audio cassette is included...

But I laughed my ass of on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250345054828&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015,

as the so-called "rare box" is simply the European box - you can purchase this version at Nick Harlow's site for 19 UKP and of course anyone in Europe is more likely to have this version than the U.S. one.

check out ebay item 270321148481

Empire, the incredibly average, non-rare war sim game, complete in box for only $100 (plus lots and lots of shipping cost if you aren't in the USA since this game is really heavy!!! I used to have it)

Somebody, somewhere out there in idiot-land will probably think .. ohh, 6 boxed N64's for just over $1000 and go and buy them.

Well, that's what this particular seller must be thinking.

In my experience this can sometimes be corrected with a new DMA chip. Sometimes even just removing the current chip and cleaning the contacts on it and the socket.

Not that this will happen, but here's hoping that the sellers in Germany & Finland who want totally stupid money for their items are banned by eBay :)

I´m only payed some stuf from Ebay (not ever selling anything in there) and i´m seen some very big prices for Swedish and Usa sellers, but is there some sellers from Finland? Because there is www.huuto.net and almost everything is payed there. Ebay not are in there because this. Big prices for some things, but i´m seen many biggers in Ebay. In Germany is so much more Atari´s so prices needed to be slower what they are in there, but what i´m seen in Ebay, they not are.

There's one very active and expensive seller from Finland that always crops up in my daily searches - e.g. £80 for Dragon's Lair - and that's without delivery costs on top.

They don't even ban those in your country (or that Crazy Swede who tries to sell Jaguar games for higher prices than telegames.co.uk, not to mention Nick Harlow). Apparently "doodleatic" freaked out for some reason (she had some items starting low and I bought from her before, but this is ridiculous):

That's a store in sweden specializing in retro console & computer stuff.

Their prices are in fantasy land even by swedish standards.
