So if I add a "keyboard cover" onto my falcon, does that mean it jumps several thousand in price also ??

Stupid retro computer asking prices

Postby EmpireAndrew » Mon Dec 05, 2016 4:15 pm

Apologies if such a thread exists already but...

I thought it would be fun to post links to ads with stupidly high asking prices.
Sometimes the stuff was junk when it was new and hasn't got better with age...

"They didn't sell many of these".

Yeah because they were complete c**p even when they were new mate...

I'll start off with this, a $6,000 Amiga 1000 with $1,000 shipping who wants to do the deal in the local police dept parking lot:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiga-1000-/151 ... xyDEVSbgDY

And this, a $3,000 Siemens 486DX2 66 base unit. WTF?! :

Or this $2,000 1040ST with monitor:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tested-MINT-Ata ... SwoudW23xN

Or this all-in-one G3 Mac which is one of the ugliest machines Apple ever made. It's identical in spec to the Beige G3 Tower (and a very useable machine even today, I do most of my retro Mac work on mine) and you can buy said Tower with 19" Trinitron monitor for a tenth of the price. This one isn't even clean or tested:

I personally have one of these, not in box but perfect (vs the "not perfect" comment in this ad, and I paid $140 for it this year, not over $900! I could have had a boxed one for under $300:

And where do you find a buyer passionate enough about Epson dot matrix printers to pay nearly $4,000 for this thing plus $750 shipping:

Ah ok, doesn't surprise me there was such a thread.
But with the last post over a year ago and the auctions dead I don't feel so bad about starting a new one...

This isn't personal but I just ignore threads like this or ones that ask 'how much do you think this is worth?' It bores me. Enough said.

It says: "Marke: AMIGA". Seems like a money grab to me, some idiot not even familiar with the gear.
