Hi all.
My name is Fredrik and I'm 39 years old, and come from Sweden.
I joined this forum 10 months ago but found this thread just some days ago. :-)
My first experience with Atari was on my brothers 1040 ST in 87 or 88. in 1990 I
bought a 520 STE "Game Pack". I already had a keyboard with MIDI and started
to explore the world of MIDI music on the STE running Music Studio. I upgraded
the 520 with more RAM quite soon.
in 1992 me and my brother bought a Falcon 030 each and after a year or so I
started using Cubase Audio. I expanded it with JAM IN 8 and JAM OUT 8 and
also got a big mixing console. in 1996 I started a professional recording studio
based on my Falcon 030, but in 1998 I switched to PC.
After that it took 17 years before I touched a Atari again. I now own two Falcons,
one standard with 14Mb RAM and 4Gb CF, and one with CT63 + SuperVidel card.
I really enjoy using the Falcon and even my children like playing around with it.
Atari Falcon, 14Mb RAM, CT60e, Supervidel, Svetlana, 512Mb RAM, 8Gb CF.
Atari Falcon, 14Mb RAM, CT63, 256Mb RAM,4Gb CF.

OK, time to introduce myself. Whilst many in the Atari scene may not have come across me before, I have been involved with retro computers since buying my brother's Sinclair ZX81 in 1982. Best known on the Sinclair scene, I was known in the late 80s / early 90s for reviewing and testing software, as well as writing a bit of software for the Sinclair QL.

Since then, I have moved into supporting all sorts of retro computers by supplying a wide range of replacement parts and getting them made and would like to think that I have been the movement behind some of the revivals in recent years - for example, in 2010, I decided to get some replacement keyboard membranes (better known in Atari circles as mylars for some reason) made for the Sinclair ZX81 - I ordered 500 to get the best price, expecting to sell 250 at most.

I then set up the ZX80/ZX81 forums and found that within a year, all 500 membranes had been sold - so knowing the size of the market and enthusiasm for the old machine, I got involved in the design and manufacture of an SD card interface (the ZXpand) for the ZX81 - now some 5 years later, I have sold just under 1500 ZX81 membranes, and around 300 ZXpands!

Amongst the computers I support, I include the Commodore Amiga, Sam Coupé, ZX Spectrum, QL, ZX81, ZX80 and Z88, as well as having got overlays made for the Vectrex controllers. I was looking for some more project ideas for 2016 and someone suggested branching out into the Atari world - so here I am.

Hello.

I've been on the forum for a few years but have recently moved to the US. Are there any Atari fans in the Boston area? I don't know anyone here and it would be good to meet like minded Atari/Amiga fans ;) I've already sourced an ST :)

Hi, my name is Vladimir and I'm an Amigan.

But that would be the reason why I always admired Falcon. ;)
My first console ever was Atari 2600 clone and as a kid I had much fun with it and I still like to play Hungry Frogs on it.
Then I got C64 and you can guess what was my choice and path after that.
Today I have bunch of retro consoles, C64, few Amigas and an arcade cabinet ;)
Few months ago I got 4MB Falcon. :P
As I never had an atari computer before I took it easy and took a time to get familiar with it. Started with floppies and then I managed to install CF inside and a lot of software. But I would have some questions so thats why I'm here. ;)

Greetings from Belgrade

Evening all.

Yet another old fart who's first real computer was an ST (1040STE to be precise) joins the forums ^_^ Figured as middle age approaches the choice was sports cars or geek gear, sports cars are too damn uncomfortable so the geek gear of my youth won out

Looking forward to picking a few brains about setting up SD card hard drives and generally nattering about the good old days of computing.

Hi! My name is Alejandro! I'm a home computer collector from Buenos Aires (Argentina) mainly interested in 8-bits systems. Besides, I have some 16/32 bits equiments like Commodore Amiga and Mac Classic II and, of course, an Atari 520-STM. This is a nice machine, but it brings me a headeache while I was "playing" with RBG output...but this is and issue for another post!

Glad to be here!!!!
Alejandro

Hi, my name is Ter, and I am the founder of Zap!, a fanzine I started in September, 1991 on my Atari 1040 STE. I post in other forums (and my own site) as Zap!, but since no special characters are allowed here, I was forced to drop the exclamation point. :)

I am a long-time Atarian, and own the 2600, 5200, 7800, Jaguar, Lynx, XEGS, STacy, Portfolio, 1040 STE, Mega ST4, and my newest love, a Mega STE with Ultrasatan hooked up to a 20" PVM. I hope I can bring something to this site, and not just take advantage of what it has to offer me. Anyway, here's my setup in action!

Hello there!
My names Jorel and I started my gaming adventures on an Atari 2600 so Atari holds a happy and nostalgic place in my heart. I recently bought another Lynx, sold my original when I was young, and it's so much better than I remember! I'm also getting back into my ST and STE computers now that I have the space to set them up. I've been lurking around these forums for awhile and decided it's time to bask in the wealth of knowledge and kinship that resides here.

Hi all!

I'm an 80s 8bit user, and reached this forum mainly searching information about the MiST FPGA. This incredible device had allowed me to dig into the AtariST computer that I didn't have had in the era. My main system was Spectrum until I changed to 16bits to a 386sx PC. So hope to learn so much about this system on this forum. And use MiST FPGA to feel how the Atari ST was back in the old days.

Welcome aboard!

The Mist is great, truly awesome. I personally feel though that nothing beats
the original hardware, for the best experience. Just "IMHO". :)

Sure. Nothing is best than the original hardware... but... original hardware usually is hard to find or expensive... or both.

Hi!

I'm Andrew, I'm originally from the UK but now I live in New York City.

I had a heavily upgraded Atari 520STE in my early teens back in 1990.
4MB RAM
HD Floppy
Switchable TOS 2.06
PC Speed 16 board
Upgraded serial port
20MB hard drive (I want to say Power Computing but...)

Anyhow, I had to sell it all in college to make rent and now 20 years later I'm getting back into the scene with a (hopefully) nice 4MB 1040STE with TOS 2.06 winging its way to me as we speak.
I don't have much space in my apartment but I'm hoping to add other machines to the collection, definitely a TT and a Falcon, the 2 machines that cost more than I could ever hope to afford back in the day...

Maybe I can dust off my programming skills and start writing apps again...

Glad to "meet" you all, this should be fun!
1977 VCS Heavy Sixxer (Boxed)

1991 Atari TT030, 2/64MB, Int 8GB Gigafile SCSI2CF, TOS 3.06, CaTTamaran Accelerator -> Atari TTM195 19" Mono CRT Monitor
1993 Atari Falcon030, 14MB, Int 4GB IDE2SD, TOS 4.04 -> Atari PTC1426 Color CRT Monitor
