Postby RetroGamerUK » Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:01 pm

Following a recent vacation from topic somewhere in one of the technical sections of the forum, and since the original "Where are you from" topic seems to have gone, here's a new one! [smilie=greencolorz4_pdt_14.gif]

Well I am from Rochdale, a nice Town located in the Northwest of England which is a Country in the U.K. which can be seen just above France on the World map Yellow_Colorz_PDT_19

So all you nice folk who haven't already disclosed your locations under your Avatars can now redeem yourselves Yellow_Colorz_PDT_06

So feel free to talk about where you are from, where you have lived, where you now live and even where you plan to move to...

im from a rather uninteresting place called Leicester, dead smack bang (almost) in the centre of the country. cant complain because 10 minutes drive one way takes me to the town centre, and 10 minutes drive the other way takes me to the countryside.

I am currently living in Meridian (Near Boise (boy-see)) Idaho, USA. Idaho is located in the North Western part of the US. It borders Washington and Oregon. I have been here about 9 years now. I stay because I have a good computer programming job.

Boise is the Capital of Idaho with around 200,000 people. There are 1.5 million in the entire state. Lots of elbow room!

Meridian is the 5th largest city in Idaho.

Here is a link to world maps with more information on where I live:

St. Petersburg, Florida, in the southeast of the USA. Right next to Tampa, there's about 2 million people living in the area but we have really nice beaches and lots of stuff to do outdoors so I can understand why its crowded :D

Crowded! You want to try living in London where there's officially 7 million people but unnoficially it's probably more like 8. Too overcrowded here. People are stressed so violence is on the rise.

That's why I avoid the crowds - I do the Gulf from Alabama if I'm visiting the US. Gulf Shores mostly, although sometimes I cross the line to Pensacola.

I'm from Chambéry, France, west from the frontier between Switzerland and Italy. A nice old little city. Now I'm living in Düsseldorf - in Germany - since a few month, but I'm not going to stay here... Because I don't speak German

Just a thing not so funny in fact :

Did you know this story? Two internauts were chatting & gone crazy. At last, the first one gave his adress to the second & guess what...

Still here and lived within a dozen miles of here for 99% of my life. :)

Have lived all over the UK (or so it feels) and currently residing (almost two years) in Birchwood in Cheshire. Just in the middle of Liverpool and Manchester in the North of the UK.

Click here for the google maps bit
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

I'm originally a Morecambe boy myself (well actually a Heysham lad but that won't mean anything to you unless you're from Morecambe :) ). That's on the coast up North in the UK for those that don't know.Hence the occaisional lapses into mock broad lancashire accent. It's such a relief to enunciate all those consanants properly. What a give away - still talking in my head when writing here :) .

BJ

Lived in Wales ( The part of the UK that has no jobs ) all of my life but when I was 22 I moved to London... For 3 months! - Got a job working my sister, but I just couldnt hack how overcrowded it was... Makes New York seem like a back water village. It was so bad, that the wages were £900 a week and the house was free, and yet I just could not handle the crappy life down there.

Currently living in a small village called Old Colwyn, also lived in Colwyn Bay ( The drugged up part of this same Village ), Bangor, Caernarfon, Pwllheli, Barmouth, Trefriw, and Llanrwst... All are small towns in Wales.

God, I hate the bloody place!

It seems most of the posters here have moved around a lot, I on the other hand were born in this one-horse Town and here I will probably stay....

Originally from Preston in Lancashire (North West England).

There was a BIG Atari / Amiga scene in my area with scene greats such as Mookie of ADR living less than 10 miles from my house.

I never had an Atari ST back in the old days, but all my mates had them and had their own group called "Safari"

Today I am a microelectronics designer in Oxford working in VHDL/Verilog with ASIC and FPGA designs.

10 years ago I had the great pleasure of working at Argonaut with legend David "Spaz" Moss of "The Lost Boys".

Spent about 3-3.5 years of my pre-computer life (i.e. before the age of 13) living in Brierly Hill ... when it was all steel-works!
