Question: If the emulator is overclocked will the frame counter insert wait vbls to limit it to 25FPS?

No it will cap at 50 fps. the original could only do 25fps. it was the way they did the swap screen.

Just completed it (took all left turns) and there is no end sequence just a red screen, is this by design?

I know the original had the end sequence as I still have it but normally have to use the cheat code as i'm crap at the game, can't seem to get the cheat code to work on new version either.

It went congratulations you have 7 seconds left as i went through last checkpoint then went to a red screen (where I would expect the end sequence to run) then hung.

lol yeh, orginal cheat was to type :

During play, type "STARLION". You can then press

"S" for level skip
"B" for extended play
"Q" for program info
"T" for extra time

I always thought it was STARION but hey my memory is crap, but once you start typing on your version menu appears, i think it was only space bar that brought up the menu on the original. Must load it up and check tbh

i just tried this version, cheated with the time, and it ended correct.
just copy it to your game dir, its only the tos file :D
OUTRUN.zip

thanks did not know how to activate it, but i did know it was in there
same with quit the program, so i have just add that if you press 1 you will quit to TOS, but not while the menu is showed.
i will redo all that later.

I knew it was STARION, cool i can cheat now ;) , really good but still red screen instead of end sequence, music still plays though but doesn't go anywhere just stays on red screen indefinitely with music playing.

Im running it on a unmodified MEGA1 TOS 1.02.

Also just tried it on my falcon TOS 4.04 runs way too fast but completed the game in low gear and needs the cheat as timer goes super quick too.

Same, red screen instead of end sequence.

I was thinking if the endseq , maybe is an animate clip that I did not copy with the last releases. Or maybe it could be dirt in one of the registers, because I have not change anything In That part. I will have a look at it when I get home. You could tried to copy the resources files from the original to this version.
I know that some of the .FTB files are missing, its some of the old farraris sprite that I don't use anymore

This is fantastic, all we need now is a time cheat that still work (I tried the STARLION thing too and pressing a key brings up the menu but doesn't add time). Great work!

Nope still red screen where end sequence should be. . . .

BUT

I noticed the end sequence file "sequence.seq" was present but had 0 bytes.

So I replaced it with the original and voila works fine.

Also attached here, i think it's a Cyber? Sequence file so can be played separately from the game if you so desire.

Love this game still need the cheat but i'm getting better at it.

i have always curious about how many frames outrun was running at.
so i have add a frame counter to Outrun :D

I go help with the dissembling from Michael Lynn (mlynn1974) ... I have never learn to dissembling so i am so lost in this array :D

Btw forgot to capture the music and sound so i have add one of my own versions from my outrun new year demo...

Dude, this is awesome! Amazing improvements over the original.
