New to the forum - Game rarity?

Postby dirtydancer » Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:41 pm

Hey there, sorry if this in violation of the forum rules but a friend of mine has a pristine boxed 1040STf and about 60 complete in box games. I'm having a tough time finding out about the rarity of games and was wondering if anyone knew what games we should be looking out for in terms of value. Thanks!

It's interesting that the games are complete in their boxes. A lot of people got rid of the boxes. I haven't seen any old computers on Antiques Roadshow.

These disks will be nearly 30 years old so it will be important to verify that they still work. If disks are kept in a cold or damp environment they may have deteriorated. If you list all the games I'm sure people will comment on their rarity. You can guess their value by checking completed listings on eBay.
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM, 2.5Mb STF.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

I have about 40 pictures of the lot he has, he owns a hobby shop here in canada and bought about 4 years ago on a whim and without knowing much about early pc stuff. I'm familiar with old DOS games so I recognize some of the titles like dungeon master. They appear to have been stored quite well, I'd say at least half of them still have intact shrink film on them with the original price tag. I haven't seen any in there still factory sealed though. I've looked a lot on ebay but there isn't a whole lot there in sold listings although sundog I think it was sold for $78 cdn. Also seems as though battletech is fairly expensive.

Hey,

Wow, sounds interesting. What other games do you have in mind?
I've been searching for the ASCI->SCSI adapter if possible for my 1040ST. Can't find anything cheap enough and no recommendations on forums, cause noone seems to have it (it's a modulated model). Asked on AtariAge as well.

Nope, but good luck selling to the numerous millennial collectors on ebay; I'm sure your friend will make a packet.
