Gauntlet II vs Ranarama (ST) - Which Is Best?

Hi everyone and welcome to the December 2017 edition of the "Which Is Best?" and the last of the 2nd series (started back in Dec' 2015).
Last month I placed the two Barbarian games by Palace software against each other asking which in your minds was the better game, a big turn out for this edition and I can now reveal Barbarian 1 stormed to victory over Barbarian II by 50 votes to 13, many felt the maze play on the sequel was too confusing and resulting in getting lost causing short longevity for love of the game,...even though I personally enjoy it and mastered it ;-D

To end the 2nd series I'm going to place two Gauntlet style games against each other, Gauntlet II vs Ranarama, which do you think is the better more enjoyable game?!, only your votes will determine that,...happy voting!

Ranarama was a superb port from the 8 bit systems and indeed one of the better Gauntlet clones out there..i loved it on C64 and later ST.

But Gauntlet II was the better game and the ST version, whilst far from perfect, i personally got far more out of...

So Gauntlet II FTW.

both are amazing games... One was included in the 520STFM Power Pack, the other one was in The 1040STFM pack if I remember correctly?

Gauntlet II is the better game though in my opinion, but Ranarama has one of the best title tunes for any ST game.

Ranarama is nice but Gauntlet II can play 4 players at the moment, so it wins in this case.

Yeah, but on the down side, you couldn't play it with a printer plugged in, or else you just got the elf shooting himself silly at the nearest wall

Gauntlet II for me, especially in multi-player mode.
And unplugging the printer was easily done

Both are good but I'm going with G2.

All those "modes" in multi-player win it for me.

Both are good for different reasons but I'd also say Gauntlet 2.

Ranarama is good for 1 player fun but the sheer number of levels on Gauntlet is amazing.

I seem to remember Gauntlet: The Deeper Dungeons on the Spectrum. An extra 512 levels! I don't think that came out on the Atari ST.

I had a copy of ranarama with my original STe explorer pack. Amazingly Atari managed to bundle a game which didn't work with the Ste!
