I cant help it if I'm often in doubt but never in the wrong.

The game HASN'T been dropped, even though there hasn't been any progress for some time...
I'll divulge more when the time is right, and the code is better but....
;) ;)

I guess it would have been naughty to start a new thread ... so I'll reply here ;-)
RAIDEN for ATARI STE today sees an update which I've record (under emulation) for all to see. Scott has done tremendous work and has made some amazing progress. Check it out folks, this is only the start! https://ataricrypt.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/raiden.html

Steve

It looks superb so far!
Did he use STOS for programing?
I wonder how he will do parallax scroll on second level (bridge over town part)...

btw interesting video regarding Raiden: "Battle of the Ports - Raiden"

No, I switched to ASM for this one, STOS was just a bit too slow for frames when everything was running full tilt ;)

Handling the second level is going to be a challenge for sure! Will it be parallax? No Idea, As im only currently on Level 1 ... a playable demo is in the works, see if it goes down well and is fast enough, THEN do the rest of the levels...
Its a task im approaching one level at a time, literally :P

The ports battle was interesting, I've seen it a few times to gauge speed and stuff, all I can say atm is mine is WIP lol

Your Raiden on ST looks amazing using only 16 colors!

This version that Atari Crypt posted will be STe only, right? I can't wait to see it finished but I believe it will be better than versions on much stronger hardware!

It is STE only, thats down to the use of Hardware scrolling .. But, by using the STE and making the game for it, I get to use all the other kool STE bits like the DAC and the jagpad :P

The music is done using the DAC ;)
Jagpad code is horrendous on ANY emulator, it just doesnt seem to be top priority for emu devs to code for proper jag pad usage... So, the code for the jagpad is there but non - functioning unless you own a real STE.

Oh, and it'll be 4mb ... the level at the moment with NO enemies .. 3.2 Mb ;)

On the subject, it COULD run on the falcon, everything is there really too ... only I might get someone else to do the fixing ;)

Really nice!

Is the music is an audio stream? Or is it a sequenced adaptation (MOD-like) ?

Technically the music is a straight up, 8-bit sample at 12.5 khz .. that damn looping tho, i know someone who might be able to fix that if I can convince him its worthwhile :P
