Twin World's music quality

Postby blakespot » Sun Jul 26, 2015 10:00 pm

Enjoying my now-4MB 520STM and I've been grabbing some games.

Twin World sounds exactly like the Amiga version, which has rather good music. Is the soundtrack sampled? No way the AY can do this with the standard 3 channels. Anyone?

Tnx.

Soundtrack at start is sampled of course. And there is a way - what you hear is via AY. Noise is present, but barely noticeable. The key is in good sample preparation and volume leveling.

Yea...I typed this before I got to playing a level - that's clearly non-sampled in the gameplay.

So sampled played thru the whitenoise generator, like Starglider intro, then.

Sampled thru noise generator - LOL  Why would someone do it. Noise is result of YM playback - it is only 4 bit . Called often quantization noise.
