Racing games gameplay

Something I noticed in racing games, some celebrated.
When the car enters a corner, it tends to turn by itself!


As in:
Vroom
Turbo Cup

Not in:
Super Sprint (obviously)
Out Run
In the CIA we learned that ST ruled

That's fun you noticed that nowadays ! :D
A lot of racing games are like that. I think the more noticeable is Formula One Grand Prix from Geoff Crammond.
Some games like F1 201x from Codemasters have the same feature. That can help when you don't play with a steering wheel, or with keyboard, or with an analogic joystick like those of the Atari ST, Amiga, etc...
So... that's just a feature !

I tried playing vroom on the Falcon years ago.. Pretty much went like ... race started... hit tree... race started.. hit tree.. that was pretty much it :lol:

Great observation, Mr Seagull!

When you try to play a racing game without this type of 'steering assist' you realise just how important it is! Try playing Crazy Cars on the ST... The car's handling feels awful, no fun whatsoever to control.

Was F1 where the steering assist was always trying to take you into the pits if you got to close, that used to drive me barmy! :)
