Laserball 2014 Easter Update.

Postby simoncam » Mon Apr 06, 2015 3:57 pm

Laserball 2014 got a nice little update over the Easter days. Not much but nice.
  • Animated menus… ok… let´s call it “changing colour menus”
  • Level Credits – each level can credit the author. I still hope that one day somebody feels like making one (or more) level for Laserball 2014 – the space for the credit is already there.
  • Bugfixes. Level Fixes.
  • And the biggest one comes from an input from the Atari Community: I changed the point system. Additional to the points for remaining time, there is now a “level bonus” for each level – depending on the difficulty. Before one only gets points from the time remaining + collecting bonuses on the playfield. If you do not run against the clock (timer off), then there have been some levels, where you do not get any points at all. With the level bonus you will get points for finishing a level – even if the timer is off and nothing to collect.
  • Level bonus and level credits are obviously also built into the level editor.
Update as usual on the http://www.hd-videofilm.com/laserball

And please fill out the highly scientific user survey!!! ;)

Future announcement: I am playing with the idea of having a real physical boxed version of Laserball 2014 been made. With floppy, instructions and all the stuff. Who would be interested (beside me ;) ). Let me know here or via the Laserball 2014 Homepage, so that I get a feeling for how many I have to have produced.

Hi Marc! You are most welcome! When it happens you will be top on the list!

Well.... kind of... the a,b,c,d,e stand just personaly for me for software "milestones" - They might only be internal not nescesarrily be recognizable form "outside".

Some versions ago I introduced a version display at game startup (lower right side) with the actual built date of that Version (only visible in the game but stand for both: Game and Level Editor - as they are aways come as a pair).
The most up-to-date one including all the "easter Updates" should read "SWV150406". (by today)

Sorry, for any inconsistencies here - after all the software code is my private little "playground". Whenever I have an Idea I code it in and if it works and I like it I post an update. No "big plan" behind it. :) However: there have been NO big changes since the end of 2014 - just minor tweeks and "beautifications". So no need to have always the latest Version.

However: If you intend to built a level (yes please!) it might be worth to download the latest Version, as you could directly add the crdit of that level within the Level Editor. The Game and Level Editor are built for full backward compatebility - even if you would have made a Level in 1991 it will open and be playable.
(Ups... i should built in a savety feature for the oposite... fardward compatebility... goes to my list ;) )

(oh, ich hätte auch in Deutsch antworten können sehe ich gerade ;) )

Grüße,
Thomas
