The disturbing bit is the url it turns into: http://dbnx.com/suspended.page/

Suspended... maybe some accusations of copyright infringement of long-dead software by some asshole lawyers? Hopefully it's just an overdose of bandwidth.

That might be. It happened when I was trying to solve Xerus' riddle whit a brute force search on Atari Legend.

Great .. the only people who can recover the site is Silver Surfer or the bloke who hosts the site. Neither of which I can contact until I get home. Oh well!

If it helps, I can assist in getting the Greek Wrestling Atari Site up by providing outfits and olive oil.

In all seriousness, my guess is that it's a bandwidth issue or domain expiry - both are easy fixes so don't panic yet guys!

I'll get greased up and wrestle if it helps bring back AL. Actually, I'll do it anyway, as long as I can choose my opponent from the latest issue of Playboy.

Oh no Desty, that will just not do!

For it to be an Atari Greek Wrestling site you'll have to choose someone from this forum. Alison, are you up for it?

And by the way, according to the official Greek Wrestling rules 'Grasping the genitals is not permitted'. I wonder, does this include grasping your own? I find that a bit of self grasping can aid concentration whilst in the heat of battle.

On a more serious note ... talked to the guy who hosts the site and it turns out someone's being attacking it again via DoS attack (which is also what happened last time) so the hosting company took it offline and it'll be back either today or tomorrow.

Some people just need to get a life and use their "skills" for something useful instead of trying to take down a website. Hey ho ..

... now where's my Dummies Guide to Greek Wrestling :)

:-)

So all players of 'guess the game' trying to solve Xerus' riddle were registered as a DDOS attack!

Aha! And if we look at who started that thread, we can see that the whole thing was a clever ploy by Klapauzius to orchestrate a manual DDOS against AL for some obscure reason. And us gullible fools fell for it. 8O

Meanwhile, you'll just have to rely on your memories - however hazy they might be - of what the answers for the current games are :)

You and RetroGamer magazine - unless they've already got all the ones they wanted :)

RG already did their Atari ST article - it's in this months mag. I was underwhelmed by the write up it got, but then I'm a fan boy so it would have had to be excellent to satisfy me!

Ah right .. not a subscriber or a regular purchaser. Methinks I'll grab a sneaky look in WHSmiths on Sunday :)

"The Atari Legend Site is currently undergoing maintenance.

It is attempting to pin the Greek Wrestling site in an attempt to prove its dominance and therefore worthiness to the web space it occupies.

It will be back up and running once it has gotten one fall or a submission."

Still awaiting news from a mate of mine who hosts my own site (he's away on a skiing trip) and Silver Surfer (who's looking into another hosting arrangement) - I'm in regular contact with Mark Durban and he's doing some bits and pieces too.

It won't disappear - that's a guarantee. But, it might not also be reappearing as quick as people would like. Better to be safe than sorry.

Guys, the Greek Wrestling Community site is mine. At the moment, I have the same problem as AtariLegend. Suspended because Xilo is CRAP. My site, a big one actually since it is endorsed by the official World Wrestling Enterainment Magazine over here and I am also the translator of WWE DVDs, has been down for 3 damn weeks. I changed hosting and moved to Hostmonster, however, for about a week, I am trying to get a backup of the databases since

a) I don't have FTP access
b) I don't have cPanel access
c) I don't have SSH access

I am very annoyed and disappointed at the same time. I am exchanging emails with my friend Mark who has is having the server in Xilo and provided the hosting and he is on the phone 2 hours every day with them. They always say that they are working on it but at the end of the day, no result.

I honestly don't know what to do. I called them and had no luck since I am not buying directly from them. Initially they said that it was abuse and stuff like that but at the end it seems like a MySQL issue. I even ask them to provide me a backup of a db that is 500Kb and they can't be bothered doing even this. 2" of work FFS. Xilo is certainly one of the worst I have seen.

I am terribly sorry because I recommended this hosting but I am paying this mistake myself. 3 weeks and counting. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_32

My mate is back from his skiing trip so as soon as my replacement modem arrives, I can get back online at home and start emailing Mark myself again.
