As I post this, Canada is in second place! Alright!

Yup, this is my first post. I'm a long-time reader, but I just signed up because I occaisonally have something to say.

Anyway yeah, I'm from Canada. Atari ST seems to have a pretty good scene in Canada. There are a number of user groups, dealers, and some BBSes too I think. Also, Anodyne Software is right here in Ontario, where I live. Maybe I should track them down and have a chat?

Yep .. I concur with the above statement. Mind you, Marcer could have split it into England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and the totals might turn out a little bit different :)
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

You have to count votes per capita.. :D
We are 9,000,000 people in Sweden, 3 voted so far.
U.K is about 60,000,000 so you need to get 20 votes compared to the swedish ones.
...300,000,000 in the US .. 63,000,000 in France....

I think this kind of Poll, could wake up intressts for developers in Atari scene. I know there is more usage of the tools then the feedbacks are. :)

So perhaps by this way, we all may have a clue, the amount of crowd still shows the REAL intressts in the acitivty.

So your poll vote may be important for all of us, for the future of this platsform.

and my second thought, it would be intressting to see which countries still have Atari ppl in, and most of users etc :)

Roger is a great guy - would love to have the chance to sit down and "chat atari" with him. :)

BTW, what BBSs are still running in Canada? I know mine here in the US is still around (see sig), as well as the STGUILD BBS, but not many other true Atari BBSs besides that. Thanks!

I said that I think they are running, because I'm really not sure. I've heard people talking about them at user groups, but I've never visited any Atari specific BBSes lately (not in many years). I only really have the means of visiting PC BBSes these days. My Ataris aren't connected to a modem right now. Sorry I can't help! I have heard of your BBS though. Once I get an Atari modem, I'll try to visit.

Don't need to use Atari. I use Telnet on the PC to occasionally visit Darklord's BBS.

Oh. Well that's not very Atari-ey.

I'd probably rather do it on the real deal, once I connect a modem or something.

It doesn't matter to me, where you all come from. I like the community and (hopefully) being part of it.

I am quite surprised at the result so far (mostly UK when I voted), I had expected that most voters would have been from mainland Europe.

It is the "real deal". I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Its Atari software (BBS Express ST v1.98a registered) running on Atari hardware:

Atari Mega ST4, Adspeed accelerator, TOS v1.4
Atari SC1224 monitor

and of course, an ICD Link2, hard drive, CD-ROM, etc,...

connected to the 'Net by a Lantronix UDS10 serial port to LAN
convertor.

Don't know how much more Atari I can get than that, unless I go to an
Atari SX212 modem! :D

I was saying I'd rather browse your BBS using my Atari, rather than my PC. I was not doubting that your BBS machine is a real Atari.

Also, why would your BBS need an accelerator? I doubt it needs it for data traffic.

My apologies! I misunderstood what you said completely. :(

I'm with you, I'd rather do everything on my Atari too.

Well, believe it or not, everything "goes" faster with the accelerator going - uploads/downloads, menu redraws, etc, as well as (and especially) the
maintenance the BBS software does after midnight. Also, backing up to
CDROM seems to be faster (2X).

Thanks, and sorry! again for mis-reading what you posted.

Well, I never said that either. However, my main computer that I use for almost everything (including internet use and music studio stuff) is an MS-DOS PC from 1996. However, that's off-topic completely so I won't go into details.

Also, no need to apologize man.

About this poll: It is important to remember that this can not possibly represent the actual global Atari scene. It can only represent the small fraction of people on this forum who decide to vote. It is still quite interesting anyhow.

Ofcourse. I just thought this form may view the best amount around all the forums and site ppl keep stream at.

That doesnt mean ALL atari ppl, infact Im in touch with ppl who barely surf at all, and are very active by them selves. Dont take this poll too serious. its just an curious doing from my side.

Greetings, Jens
