Well, demozoo is on github: https://github.com/demozoo/demozoo so I wouldn't use word "ripped" here for sure. :)

What's the intention of the clone?
Do they access the same databases or did they just mirror the databases at the time of their launch? I noticed that demozoo has slightly more data than bof, so I assume they just mirrored the databases?
Seems just plain odd to me. I guess if their intention would be to harvest demozoo user credentials they would have called themselves demozoo as well. I don't get it...
