atariforge.net still down / Mint files

Postby viking272 » Thu Jan 25, 2018 11:16 am

Hi all,

I see it's been 7 weeks or so that atariforge.net is down.

I'm after the Sparemint kernel/downloads and general info.

Looking at the atariforge.net DNS records it looks like all is in order, and running some diagnostics it looks www and mail services are not working/switched off:

http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools#dnsReport ... iforge.net

The WHOIS records indicate no owner just namecheap.com registered the domain, presumably on behalf of someone.

I may be missing more of the picture here but just keen to get it back if we can.

Thanks

https://freemint.github.io/
and in your case:
https://freemint.github.io/sparemint/sparemint/

I doubt AtariForge is coming back again in near future and SpareMiNT archive / FreeMiNT portal is never going back for sure.

Thanks FedePede04, I did see this but it wasn't talking about the site, just different sites/subdomains

firebee.org currently also is down.

When we ignore for a moment that this is irrelevant for this thread, then I can tell you that it is "just" nameserver trouble. The Firebee site is still reachable as http://84.20.240.129/fb-bin/index.

Interestingly I found these sources on github. It looks like it could be the original source for Atari MiNT?
https://github.com/totalspectrum/atari-mint

So...Total Spectrum Software has Eric R Smith as the President. He wrote the original MiNT and worked for Atari in 1993-95.
His LinkedIn profile is here: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/eric-smith-09a3b815

The git repository was made 3 years ago. Does Eric still code on MiNT?!

It's mainly of historical interest at this point, but I'm putting it up for others to use.
