Thunder Storm IDE/Fastram Interface for Atari TT

Postby tuxie » Mon Jun 05, 2017 11:33 am

Hello Guys,

regarding to our thread here in the forum about the development of a Atari TT IDE / Fastram interface. Since few weeks we are selling both together.

Specifications:
Thunder IDE Interface
-100% Falcon Compatible IDE Interface (same Addressrange)
-Byteswap like pperas interface, PC Compatible mode, but needs special driver like pperas driver
-Smartswap, special mode to make the drive PC Compatible, (no Special driver needed)
-Low Speed mode to make old drives working
All data lines are buffered, so the TT is safe with less bus weight
Upto 6Mb/s Transferspeed with HDDriver 10.1 and driver loaded into fast ram (with Storm)

Storm Fastram:
-upto 256MB Memory in two Modules
-FPM and EDO Supported
-68030 Burst Mode Support
With EDO Burst upto 17,3MB/s read and 20MB/s write (16/32Mhz)
The Thunder IDE adapter profits from the performance of the Storm Fastram card.
Both gives the TT a massive speed boost

Hello,

Sounds interesting.
I saw a video on Youtube with a TT at 40MHz. Is it yours?

You plug both cards on the TT Ram connector?

Guillaume.

Yes it is indeed very nice.
I am tempted to get for my TT but several years back I paid for a NetUSBee from a guy called Tuxie on Atari-Home.de and it never appear.
He mentioned there was problems with the chip/board/breakfast etc and will be fixed in few weeks.
Of course after over 5 years now, it's still not arrived yet. That was the only bad Atari related purchase so far for me.

So as much as I like the Thunder Storm, I think I will not get into it.

Hello Wongck,

yes it is true I had a lot of trouble with the NetUSBees I had made many years ago. The half of all boards was not working, and we didn't found the reason why. This made me bankrupt because I hade invested a lot of money to buy the parts for it. I tried to pay back all peoples, so I contacted also you by mail but I got no answer "IDK why" . At the moment we sold 50 pieces of ThunderStorm without any issues. And I will also clear our trouble between us both.I write this in open forum because I have no secrets. I will send you an IM .....

I would just like to say that I purchased both Thunder and Storm from tuxie, the hardware is very nice and he has provided exceptional service/support through email and facebook. He even called me from Germany to Australia to help me with a configuration problem I was having. His service/products are excellent.

I say that too.

I will add that they are built few devices with that price-cuality ratio, are excellent devices with cheap price, developed by people who love Atari and who do not have a profit.
Every time I've needed help: it's always there.

don't get me wrong. I am not out to harm him, else I would have already posted a reply to of his 1st posting immediately.
Just caveat emptor.
He has his reasons, I did follow on Atari-home.de back then, and knew he said he lost money on it. That's why I did not pursue further, may be being gullible but benefit of the doubt.

Tuxie is still making some great products for Atari as we can see here.

I have both pieces up and running in my TT since a few weeks. It is the best addition to my TT in years. Very good work, great support. Thank you.

I ordered and received both the Thunder and Storm.
So far I've only had the chance to use the Storm memory expansion, but it works perfectly and I expect the Thunder will as well.
