Sooner or later Amazon will ask about your suppliers.. I used to sell on there. They didn't like the fact that most of my stock was left over from when I closed my High Street shop down... many ( I mean many) emails later I gave up trying to explain this.

I did look at amazon a few years ago, seems like 30% fees and a minimum sale of £50 or something like that.

I've found a UK firm who can take credit card payments, ive emailed and spoken to them on the phone, they seem to give good support so far. I've emailed several other companies who are "common" known, and only 1 other replied so far, that was a few days after I emailed. So stick with the one I first found as they replied within a day.

Anyway, I have talked to them about "problems" etc so should more more bullet proof than before. They actually rang me, and answered all my questions, they have checked my store page and site out and they say theres no problem to sell the stuff I do.. But overall I got some answers by people who knew their stuff. So thats paramount for me. So screw paypal!

I need to finish signing up to get the integration guide, so thats going to take a few days to sort out. I've got repairs to do on my van this week, so will make a start on the store once I'm done with repairs.

I've also had to open a new bank account, inform the tax office, so there is some movement towards the store re-opening at some point soon...

Still signing up with the new company..

Can I provide visual proof of my ID, like passport ?........ nope don't have one....... can I provide photo driving license... nope.. don't have one... So now I gotta go into town and go hunting for a lawyer as a "legal body" to sign my picture as proof I am who I say I am... seesh... I'm sure buying a russian super missile would entail less paperwork than this!

Doesn't have to be a lawyer.. Any Professional ( is Doctor, Policeman etc) will do.
Similar to getting a passport.

I never got a passport so no clue about this stuff. I went to solicitor in town just and they not happy about signing a picture of someone, basically because they no idea who I am, they would need visual confirmation like a passport as proof, but thats the problem to start with as I dont have one. So waiting for credit card company to ring the solicitor to explain to them why they want my picture signing.. Solicitor is only there today, credit card guy is out of office, all kinda p*****g me off to be honest :(.

For my first passport I just got my boss to sign it.
They don't cross check it anyway.

oh, got a reply, seems it has to be signed by "someone who knows me".. like why didn't they tell me this before I spent time going into town ?!.. So I need some legal power who knows me.. beats me. Think trying to take credit cards is more trouble than its worth.. I'm just stuck in a neverending circle of BS! Might have another look into my actual bank services again see if I have any better luck in that direction..

Sucks.
As part of the exxos site, I express my sympathy and hope for a solution.

On the other hand, some people could be reluctant to use paypal. Never did, don't like the idea of a fee.
But I purchased the HxC device from Lotharek, paying by simple bank transfer at no cost. Of course you need to trust the vendor, but who doesn't trust exxos? This probably has already been discussed. Good luck.

I can take IBAN payments, though I am just a bit reluctant to plaster my bank account number over the internet

Why? If a rich sheik sees the number, he could drop some petro-dollars on it just for the fun and because he likes Atari.
Seriously, you may mention the number only in confirmation emails? IIRC, that's how Lotharek does.
Maybe you could open a specific account just for this?

Personally I don't like bank transfers, I prefer PayPal as I can pay using a credit card, I have some limited protection, it crosses borders easily, the fees on cheap items are very low as a percentage vs money orders etc.
However I'd feel ok doing a bank transfer to exxo due to his status and history in the community, plus it's not large sums anyway.
The people who sell used computers for hundreds of dollars and expect a bank transfer are living in cloud dream land though. I would never entertain something so risky.

Just pointing out again that we have fee-less transfers within EU.

(I bought a Mega STE using such bank transfer)

The whole thing is just one big joke, I'm no futher along than I was a week ago

The card company say "The notary needs to be someone who recognises you", like who ?! I know loads of people around the world, who "qualifies" to sign legal documents other than a lawer ?! More to the point, "who knows me" ?!

They suggested I apply for a photo driving license... thats fine, only they need a passport as photo ID.. which is the problem I had to sign up with the card company. Seems most of them want photo ID's... like if people don't drive or have a passport, you basically don't exist.

I need to look for some other options instead, taking card payments is just not going to happen. The only options is to take IBAN or cheque (UK only probably) payments or possibly just find someone else to sell my stuff on my behalf which will increase the "customers" price tag a bit.

Either way, I getting off this "merry-go-round" for a bit......
