BLITTER kits and PLCC converter kits

I have secured a large stock of over 200+ NOS blitters which has taken some months to sort out and of course cost me a small fortune to invest in. I felt this is a must thing to do as as they are so hard to obtain. I have wiped out China stocks of them and boy, did they take some work tracking a honest supplier down!

Due to PLCC socket problems I developed a PLCC adapter board which can easily convert those stupid Atari PLCC sockets into modern PLCC sockets.

The page is still WIP but the PCB kits will be going on sale hopefully next week. Also the blitters will be going on sale once I have started to soak test them before sale. Prices will follow in due time.

Brilliant effort Exxos: The adaptor PCBs would have fixed a dead STe for me at the beginning of the year. (I ended up getting an original 'funky' socket from Best at great expense).

One question: Obviously this is going to raise the overall height of the chip / socket combination wherever it is used. On my STFM the pads for the blitter are quite close to the front edge of the PCB under the narrowing wedge of the RF shield - you probably have a few boards like it in your collection. Do you think there will still be enough clearance for the shield to fit?

Yes it fits under the shield , at least on later revisions.. I don't know of any blitters which are any closer to the edge. If you look the blitter on my site when its assembled is near the front, that fits. The PCB is 1.6mm thick, plus about 0.5mm for a card spacer. So fitted correctly it shouldn't take up more than 2-3mm height. Thats about all the clearance there is. On my machine theres about 1mm gap between the shield and the socket.

PLCC sockets should be here in a couple of days, its the only thing I am waiting on now. Will try and add get some kits ready for sale next week. Been testing some blitters out over the past few days, got about 15 which are been soak tested for 2 hours or there about. There a small cool thing also with these blitters, nothing exciting, but cool, so people will have to wait and see ;)

Got a bit more "serious" with the testing...

Intresting thing is, that ZIF pinout is the "funky" pinout... Though it still didn't fit :( Seems the pins are about 2mm out from the holes on the motherboard, like the whole socket is like 10% to large.. In anycase, a few waves with my magical hammer and all sorted

They've got a picture of Jack Tramiel on the back?

Put me down for 2 blitters and 1 socket please Chris.

Thanks for everyone who purchased the kits. I still have a few left in stock. Once those stocks have gone, the price of obtaining new blitters will go up considerably as they are hard to source.

I was just curious about Atari 'funky socket'. I have got dead board without lot of chips, so I unsolder the socket with funky pinout. And what a surprise. There is standard socket with bended pins as you can see in the picture... :)
The board is revision D so even Atari did not use this funky socket in later models.
