Postby leonard » Fri Mar 22, 2013 9:09 pm

Hi all,

I'm please to announce a new nice feature for SainT v2.30: a Monitor SC-1425 emulation.

More info and download here: http://leonard.oxg.free.fr/SC1425/SC1425.html

I hope you will enjoy that new feature to watch demos or play games :)

Hi !

This is what i call an unexpected update ! :)
Nice idea, but isn't the screen bending a bit too much compared to the TV screen or monitor most ST users enjoyed their games and demos looking at ?

Paulo.

Humm yes maybe the dist is a bit high, but I though it was "cooler" :) Maybe I can add a parameter in next release so people can tweak it. The bloom effet is slighty too high too compared to my original SC1425, but the bloom effect is so nice I decide to keep it :)

Thanks :) It's interesting - we are "reducing" the quality of our kit these days, to get the "best" experience!

Personnally, I have an Amiga downstairs connected to a CRT - It's the only way!

If you need a feature for the next version of SainT then it has to be 120Hz lightboost strobe.

http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/

This effect offers 50Hz looking screens on LCD's capable of 120Hz.

Support has just been added to Mame and WinUAE

Hi Alex,

don't know about that technic, but it seems that's exactly what I wanted since years on PC! Have to look at it. (I'm afraid I have to buy a new LCD too :( )

The Source code from Mame and WinUAE is available for reference. I'm sure if you added the support then someone with a LightBoost enabled 120Hz LCD will test it for you :)

I always fixed my CRTs so they didn't have the pinching.

I added support in a "beta" version. Does anyone has a "light-boost" enabled configuration to test my version? Please write here or PM as you wish.

thanks in advance

Love the new monitor emulation but definitely requires a bit more horsepower to run in that mode. I did notice that I have screen corruption if going to the desktop and not running a demo or game.. confirmed I don't have the issue with older versions of SainT. Possibly due to the new monitor emulation although it still has screen corruption issues when the emulation is disabled.

Thanks for continuing to update your fine emu!

I'm new here so I can't see my previous post yet.. but I did discover that disabling blitter gets things looking better! I'm probably just showing my ignorance with SainT as it has been quite some time since I used it!

Thanks again for all the hard work!

Yes blitter corruption is a bug concerning SainT & blitter. I have to fix that bug since years :) Currently saint is more " stfm" emulator so use STF mode or switch off the blitter. This is not related to "sc1425" crt emulation, wich is only on "windows" side.

Leonard.. thanks for the information. And I love the new crt emulation! :D It would be great if you do update it to allow adjusting it to be a less pinched. A bit too wide in the middle for my taste and fiddled ages ago to try and get as square an image I could muster on my old 1224. Just awesome how close this gets to a real machine now!

Hi!. First of all, congrats for such a fine emulator that is SainT.

I bought a 2411T just by reading the concept behind the lightboost trick. I believed in it, and when I actually saw it working I was amazed. Now, emulators should be recoded for supporting the frame doubling though. I can betatest SainT, would be a pleasure for me to report working status. Just PM me or email me at cpharlok ( gmail account )

Oh btw... is there any trick to make SainT menu clickable when using bigger fonts in windows? I find it a bit difficult to decrease font size to launch emulation as I have to log off to change it

This new version of SainT crashes for me; the previous version runs fine. I have a very old setup with XP, no DX9 graphics card etc.. Could this be the problem? I do still use an actual CRT though so I get bonus points for that! However, it's a flat screen without any pinching at all.

Hi Leonard, SC1425 emulation looks really cool. Would be possible to use it also in windowed mode?
BTW, TOS 2.06 US and UK looks a bit strange under Saint 2.30
