Heya, just signed up to say I'm glad you folks like the look of the game. I've been a bit slow and busy with other things but am getting there (if I'd been faster Bonus could have probably had this game out ages ago). I feel a bit weird posting on an Atari site. Always been more of an Amiga person when it comes to this era (and still have my A1200 and often play it or on Amiga emulators) but these days I also appreciate the 16-bit home computer era as a whole. For me home computers stopped having style and their own 'personality' after that.

Anyways I hope you enjoy Begemed when it's all finished. These types of games tend to be quite addictive and I've tried my best to make use of a 16 colour palette to look as colourful as possible and still with quality shading to get the most out of it all.

Still programming on a somewhat smoother swapping of the gems, and that seems to work.
So that will be build in. Other than that a lot of trying to make things work.
Also looking in to the cookie's to see what kind of machine I'm dealing with...

But unfortunaly I also hit a small bummer with the sound. I wanted to have the same on
all 3 machines (STE,TT and Falcon) but it seems impossible to do. On the falcon
it all sounds good, same "strength" of music and effects, but on the STE/TT the music
is okay but the samples are just very faint to hear. Already looked into the microwire
interface but that doesn't seem to work. Already got some help from LP and Simon
but no luck there. So it will be either samples or music but not both on the same time.
Bit of a shame :( But maybe somebody has a solution here ?!?!?

Indeed, already for a long while. Sorry for being somewhat absent sometimes (mails / DM) but you know
the drill if you're in a project with already to little time. Like you tracker very much but not enough time
to test or do really a piece of music with it...
And there are 2 other idea's already forming in my mind, but first this one !!

Hi.
it is ok, I know how it is and remember if you need help one day, don't hesitated to ask :)
thanks for liken my tracker, but I have to say, when I am looking at it now, I can see that I had not coded for 11 years
My new tracker that I am in the process of making, it took only about 2-3 to do most of the editor functions. but making the Fm part is moving really slowly (it is really hard for me), I will send you a demo later on, when i have something to show (In a couple of month  )

btw remember to download the latest version of the paint program, it is a full version this time, the reason why I have not send it to you.

have a nice Easter
Peter

Made it to the front page of Atari User magazine :) Really happy with that and
also the article is nice. There is no escaping anymore now, but luckely I don't
have to do it all alone. Got some nice offers from people for testing, extra
GFX and music. So even if I couldn't do much lately, there is work done...

Great project, keep up the good work ;)

I'm wondering, how long did it take you (approximately) to program the game up to this point?

You really wanna know ??? The first piece dates back as far as 2010 (and that's the first time I set a date in the code).
So might even be longer, but thenn again is hasn't really been a continuous process. Sometimes months went by and
then a few day of very active programming and then nothing again. Also the first version was Falcon only planned
mailnly because of the GFX. But once these new 16 color gfx came I thought of an TT and STE version too...
But okay, I don't think I have to take long again to finish it. But the end product has to be good !!!

Of course you should take as much time as you need to work on finishing the project and release it only when you really feel that it's finished.

The nice thing about a community like this is that it doesn't matter how long it takes for your project to finish, as long as it gets finished ;)

Well just thought to give a small update although code wish there wasn't a big change.
But on the music side thing are looking good...
4 new YM songs where entered by DMA :) And they sound great...
Still have to incorporate them into the game, but another thing from the long to-do-list
is done :) Project is still alive and this is another great motivation !
