The Atari ST/E Youtube thread

Postby Stefan jL » Sun Oct 07, 2012 12:24 pm

Why not have an "official" Youtube thread to post in when you add Atari ST/E/TT videos :D

I have uploaded some videos recently and all are recorded from a real ST or STE. But i am not a master at game play so expect no longplays

Live and Let Die - Really good "racing" game, seems to use the Buggy Boy engine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8Sd3Z3aB1A

Delirious Demo 2 - classic ST demo, my capture card had problem with reset screen of course.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_mcEj5XSVA

Skate Wars - I enjoyed this game alot when i was younger.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbCpsr8j7NI

Afterburner - a not so good arcade conversion, but the digital title/intro music is great :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0Av950xE8w

Gravity - title music - just posted so the world knows what i think is the worst game music ever (no gameplay).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OheH06jqfY

M Demo 3 - demo by An Cool, really nice one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB8DBtwp_fM

Building a Ruin - music by Tao.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz8KaDHClTA

Birth - music by Tao
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ZmVs4G1mc

Wings of Death - a gameplay recording i did for STOT :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbeW8EBavRA

Turbo Outrun - ouch... really bad arcade conversion... not playable? Loading time is like on C-64 cassette games.

The digi music on the afterburner was chopped from the powerpack version so that was nice to hear!

Yes that Afterburner digital msuic was pretty new to me too as i also is used to play only the powerpack version.

new ones:
Shadow of the Beast 2 - Longplay with cheat :) I never found any Youtube video showing the ST version so i recorded the whole game (i had to use cheat).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6WTf_nrJV8

Morphonic Lab.XI Invitation - New ST demo wich uses a new sound effect... "YM-modulation" i think it was called? I wonder if that sound can be used for any other genres than "crazy techno" :D

Really interesting quote from Dave Lowe on AfterBurner digital music.

Similar technique (but with longer samples) was used in the "DMA disk" music disks series by ST Ghost / Sector One, to reproduce commercial music tracks on STe (the file format could also be played on desktop using an .ACC).
I also made use of this technique for the music in the (unreleased) [Dune / Sector One] UFO demo.

I made 3 videos so far, I'd like to suggest them too:

Atari ST:
http://youtu.be/8fEW8n5ZhB8
http://youtu.be/-I6ZIu9rv1E

Atari Falcon 030:
http://youtu.be/qE3TCgqdx40

Maybe in future I will make something more. We have the 16-channels engine for YM, so it almost screams for a video. ;) Will see.

Strange. Still unreleased since 2009, I've just noticed.
That's a lost for the scene.

The chiptune in the Morphonic Lab.XI Invitation is absolutely the Heaviest Metal made this millennium.
Excellent Excellent Excellent! Too bad I'm far away on the west coast of Canada. The tune deserves a
tall stack of speakers and a few kilowatts of amplification. 8)

No i have not tried Operation Garfield yet :)

Rubicon - I play thru the whole game using cheat just to show the game and also it is fun to compare it to the Amiga version as it is slighly different. Rubicon is made by Fingerbobs btw.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE-OKlaG3Mc

Rubicon *preview* - Demo of the first level (came with ST Action disk 25), it is different from the final version of the game.

Electra Demo - Great demo... this video is over 1 and half hour so you can sit and read all scrolltexts

Hello! I have a YouTube channel concerning Atari ST games: http://www.youtube.com/user/thejoyofsticks?feature=watch

Unfortunately real life continues to get in the way of the serious activity of uploading videos, so it's not updated as regularly as I would like, but you might want to check out the more recent videos featuring my top ten favourite Atari ST games: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3D88B7F5F4FBE63F

Heh! Well, apparently the controls are much more responsive on the Mac version, which doesn't really help us ST guys, admittedly.
