zWeather 1.2 is aviable

Postby [ProToS] » Thu Feb 04, 2010 5:25 pm

from csa.st

Code: Select all

Thanks to MiKRO, zWeather 1.2 is available.

No new features but a couple of bugs have been fixed and, the most
important, now zWeather should get again the datas from weather.com.

That's cool. Nice to hear

It would be nice to see a new version of zView sometime, but that is a big ask, I guess.

I have got a lot of picture format reading routines that can be used in zView. How can I get in touch with the people working on it at the moment?

Sorry for bumping a 2 yr old thread.

Last nite I tried this zweather that was working before.
But now seems to not work any more for me.
I did not really look into why..... but is it working for other people or it's just me??

Is there a newer version around?

I entered USFL0372 as location code, and pressed update data.
The zWeather cannot get any information and outputs are all xxxx.

I've tried to modify and compile zWeather but I got stuck because of lack of some important files in source code like zstring.h or types2b.h (found it in zview sourcecode but I'm not sure if its ok) :(

Thanks. Let us all know when you fixed the format change.
It's really bad when weather.com keeps chnaging it's data format.
This is like the 2nd time or so.

I assure you, all files are available within the svn repository :)

The problem with weather.com is much worse -- they STOPPED to provide free xml-based feeds. You must pay and/or somehow register, I don't remember yet but I know when I saw it I lost my appetite to mess with them anymore.

Oh man... that's torn it then. :( :(
Guess giving free stuff on the Internet as a business model isn't really cutting it.... you will need to get some returns sooner or later one way or another.

Could data from AccuWeather.com be used?

I have no idea how weather data is provided from the site, but a widget on my Android phone uses this site for weather info...

It's available for others.... just that it is paid for by funding from Norwegian public.
They do come out in English..... if you use Chrome.

The forecast is available in English. It's just the docs for the webservice that's in Norwegian.
