We Love Atari (Volume One)

Postby Videl » Thu Feb 28, 2019 8:17 pm

Hello Atari-Forum,

It's been a while since I posted here (years in fact), but I just wanted to let you know I have put a new book together about Atari and it will be available to buy in a few weeks time. I published it myself, so copies will be limited.

Volume One covers Atari from 1972-1983, and Volume Two will cover 1984-1996.

There is more news on my website here: www.zafinnbooks.com

In other news, my very very old website Atari Explorer, will be getting a makeover and that wil be back online before the Summer holidays.

www.atariexplorer.com

Other than that, I want to thank all the people here still using Atari and keeping the flame alive

regards,

Karl

Hello guys,

Thanks for the interest in the book, makes the effort worthwhile! Let me answer your Q's:

@dbsys - Volume 2 is done, however I need to sell Volume One to cover the print run of Volume Two, but if all the e-mail's I have received turn into sales its nearly a done deal. It looks great, if I don't say so myself! I also have a section dedicated to Demos (8/16 Bit), I'm a big fan of the YM2149 and POKEY :-)

@ggn - Yes, sure. I can upload something tonight on the website so you can get a better look at the content.

@dhedberg - My home town of Dublin, Ireland.

Thanks again for all the support.

Hi Karl, thanks for the answer. I fully understand that. I am looking forward to the release of volume 2, whenever that will be.

Does volume 2 also cover the 16 bit computers, or are these books dedicated to gaming only?

What I would like to see, as some other folks over here too, is a few pages as a preview which represents the respective volume. I would like to read a few sentences to see, if my English language skills will be enough to enjoy the book(s).

Thanks.

Hi dbsys,

Of course it does! I got my 520STFM in 1987 and upgraded to a MEGA, I did almost everything on it. The books are not gaming specific, they cover everything Atari I could fit in, I just used a joystick on both covers to represent the different era's. I'm going to put some extracts on the website of both Volume One and Volume Two tonight, I hope you enjoy them! There are a lot of visual references in both volumes, it isn't a text heavy book, it's something you can enjoy at any time.

best regards,

Karl

Hi Karl,
Ordered too. I have a problem too with my shipping address, PayPal locates me in UK but I'm in France... I wrote to the same address as Wietze to sort this out.

Hi Frost,

Not sure why PayPal is changing your location, but thanks for letting me know. I sent you an e-mail to confirm :D

Enjoy the book!

@brunosilva - I did look into it, but I thought I'd rather offer something tangible first, and not rely on hitting some magic number to see my book published  If sales keep moving along like they are, it shouldn't be too long before I can print V2. Thank you also for your order today
