What's the status here ??

Does anyone know what the attachment is to W101 which mentions a small black connector with three wires and how that attaches to the CaTTamaran ?

hmm interesting little project !

So cattamaran is just a simple overclock board ?

Does anyone know what's the procedure for overlocking the TT from the expansion slot ? Is it as simple as sending down a 48 MHz signal ? Something needs to be strobed ?

Can we just forget about the fancy software clock switching and do a pure 48 MHz overclock board ? Or maybe a simple hardware switch ?

there doesn't seem to be anything complicated with cattermaran, i'm surprised nobody has copied or created a similar product

i dont think it's quite as simple as generating a 48mhz clock, but it wont be far from it

i never use software speed switching as i always prefer a hardware switch, so yes, any software control is not needed IMO.

Any speeder will feel fast for the 1st week or less. After which it become normal.

When I use my TT030, only stuff that does much computation (like displaying pdf, gif etc) seems slower compared to the CT63.
Otherwise, moving around the desktop and doing some simple programming does not make much difference.

I was given a TT030 and among the misc items was an original CaTTamaran floppy disk and installation instructions for rev A an B motherboards. Any interest in these items or has someone already scanned the instructions? I'm not sure if the machine I was given contains the Cattamaran or not. I have to pop it open and do an inspection. Hoping it does.

I hope it does for you as well, a very nice Xmas gift. :)

It most definitely had a CyRel Sunrise VME video card in it, so a CaTTamaran would only make Christmas that much better. :D
Gonna pop it open over Christmas shutdown.

Yes. I did pay the shipping though. He said it was his way of thanking me for all that I've done. I should be able to make one good TT from the last two I've acquired. That's the plan anyway. Anyone have any experience with the CaTTamaran? I don't have a manual, I'm curious if it was always on or software switchable?

I also received an Atari Moniterm monitor in its original box.

Thanks. Seems I had this one already knocking around on the old HD.

** Update **

Opened the machine up and no Cattamaran in there. Oh well. I'm not sure why the guy had the original floppy and installation papers. Perhaps he had another TT at one time.

What's happening with the project these days, anyway? It's really interesting work. Hope a clone board is do-able...

I located someone from Cybercube Research just before the holiday who worked on the CaTTamaran. I asked if he would consider open sourcing the project, or give me anything, like the GAL contents, English manual, source code etc. So far I've not heard back, but then its still the Holiday and people tend to travel and so on. Fingers crossed. :D

Wow that would be interesting. Did they sell it for a grand each back then?

I vaguely recall seeing them advertised or reviewed back in the day in one of the British periodicals (can't remember where though) and they were a lot less than that. IIRC correctly it was around £120 or £199, but its hazy now. I think it might have been in ST Applications.

I have uploaded some English CaTTamaran docs to http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/
They are for TT030 board revisions A & B.

I found an original CaTTamaran installation disk among my spare TT stuff. If someone wants it for the cost of postage, PM me. Its only the disk, the machine actually had no hardware inside when I popped it open.

I would certainly be interested in building one also, if its reasonably simple.

I would be happy to build it on veroboard, if we can get the schematics!!

I love my TT, and I would like to prove that its a CT60 killer with the right clockspeed!
