Gerbers for TT?

Postby rthorntn » Sun Jul 15, 2018 1:11 am

Hi All,

Are they out there, anyone seen Gerber PCB images for the TT?

People have reverse-engineered them for computers like the Apple I & II (from photos & x-rays).

Just wondering as having PCB's produced is super easy and pretty cheap nowadays.

Thanks.

I never seen one, but I guess it could be made pretty easy with a dead motherboard. Are you thinking about making a replica? I'd be down buying one or two if available.

It would be amazing to preserve vintage motherboards for eternity (altair, apple, atari...) :-)

If I can't find Gerbers then I would look for donor dead motherboards and have it scanned, I might see if people want to donate a few bucks to the scanning cost.

Anything I have done would be in the public domain so anybody could get a copy.

Do we know how many layers the board has, 4?

But that's the Falcon Microbox, Frank. I also have Gerbers (that I paid to have converted from original CADSTAR format) for the Falcon, somewhere; but afair no TT.

Would be interested in the Gerber files for the Falcon030 if you find them.

Yes I was thinking all Atari PCB Layouts are CADSTAR Files !?!

Well, what you posted for the Falcon Microbox are indeed Gerber files, the ones I gave you about a year ago.

Out of curiosity, how much you have paid? Would you consider sharing it, if your investment is refunded?

Attached are the Falcon Gerber files that I've got. I've never had much time to look into them, though. So I cannot say which revision of the board they represent.

Here's a preview. Note that although it says Sparrow, the model number C303006-001 and the actual PCB layout clearly indicate it's a Falcon.

Cool, thanks so much! They do not seem to be ordinary 274X gerbers, so no board can be manufatured out of it, as is. Unfortunatelly. But I will try to decompose them tommorow.
It might be a fun project!

Someone is making ne Amiga 4000 boards. Would be awesome if we could get new Falcon boards made.

Well, question is where would we get the components to populate it from?

Mostly dead Falcons.

How many of the chips could we still get? Maybe the DSP? Not sure about 030s (seems at one point they were much easier to source over 060s)

The rest of them... no clue!

Yeah, the new Amiga boards are mainly for salvaging components from dead boxes due to cap and battery leaks. Luckily Atari did not use sub-standard components. ,)

ha ha! My one thought on this is the NVRAM, not that it leaks or causes issues itself, but some have done Very Bad Things™ to their motherboards trying to replace it with a socket/new chip.

As ube says... also some generic counterparts have recent replacements, some chipset can be hopefully be replicated in FPGA. Such an implementation would however require changes in board layout.

Hello, are the original CADStar files available somewhere?
I didn't find them in the archives you put on your website (you did an amazing job by the way ;) )

I would like to start collecting vintage PCB drawings in one place, get them all in to Gerber format, if no drawings are available then I will look to get popular computer PCB's scanned, I'm so serious about it that I just created a kickstarter project to gauge whether the idea has any legs:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/43 ... on-project

It would be so cool to "print" a vintage computer in the future.

Thanks. Falcon has quite a bit of surface mount, the Atari computers that have the majority "through hole" would be easier for the masses.

I have posted in the "For Sale / Wanted" subforum, if I can get a board then I will pay for the scans out of my own pocket and make them public.
