Q: Falcon + Daynaport (DP0801) Scsi Link

Postby Robson » Sat Feb 25, 2017 3:43 pm

Hi,

I'm having difficulties installing/running a Daynaport with a Falcon and would appreciate any help.
//I tried browsing about this but no luck. Google is not my friend in this case.

I'm not too fussed about the final system, it could be Magic + NVDI or Mint + Xaaes, I tried both, no luck.

First, I had problems with the Dynaport itself, during boot HDDriver sometimes was able to detect it but sometimes doesn't. Changing the the DP0801's PSU helped, HDDdriver now detects the Scsi Link every time. Unit seems to be ok.
However the SCSILINK.stx won't load. During MINT boot it always fail to load saying "No SCSI Device found". Therefore there is no device in Stingport.cpx to show.

I'm not sure where to look or what else to try. Somebody mentioned Route.tab before but it seems ok.

I tried both mint 1-16-1 and 1-19 (+Xaaes + thing) but i have a backup for Magic 6.2+NVDI + Jinnee too, so MagicNet can be an option as well (and probably prefer that).

Tried different HDDriver versions as well from 8.23-9.X-10.00.

System: falcon/14mb/68882/Screenblaster, nothing else

To eliminate SCSI port problem I tried on my other falcon too...same thing. But the falcon psu was the same every time.

Thanks.

First don't use sting with mint. Mint has its own network layer.
Secondly read wongck how to : https://sites.google.com/site/probehous ... e-atari-st

I setup mine following his instructions and it works.
Once you will be done with Mint, configuration for Magic should be similar.

Yep, the mint driver is the safest path here, as it is part of the kernel source tree, i.e. more or less actively maintained.
