jfl wrote:I noticed that Phweather gets confused if the computer is left running overnight. The change of date isn't taken into account so that it displays the preveious day's forecast.

I had a few minutes so I looked at the code.

The datetime from the Atari was used to calculate the sun rise and sun set for the day.
It is not used to display any thing on the window.

In the forecast, the day information is part of the forecast data from the weather server.
The forecast data comes with the refreshed current weather information, it's a single server request.
So my guess is that the forecast information is not updated yet by the weather service.

OK, since I finally have a (net)working CT60 again, here I am with the programs I couldn't use before.

PHWheather. Great app!!! Thanks wong.

Unfortunately it is behaving strangely with me:
after a few seconds of displaying the picture, it crashes.
I would like to know more on the error, and I'd thank enyome may tell me how to find more infos on the crash.
I also tried in memprot mode, and it crashed with a dialog box

I have the same behaviour with the other "new" PHSW apps (xchange, gmaps...)

I managed to have maps2.02 working by launching it from the commandline (who knows why!), while 1.9 was ok but didn't display maps data.

Hmmm... don't think so:
mine are from Zview8 dated 2011

EDIT: If I launch it from the shell, I get a "bus error" immediately.
If I launch from toswin2 or xaaes, i get a "can't load codec" error
(of course codecs are there, since every other program using them works,
and even doubleclicking phweather opens the graphics for a second before exiting)

Some stuff does not work on MP, it just happens that those seems to work without it.
So why is MP important to be on ?

Basically, if your code doesn't work on MP, you may have a severe bug, or you're doing something naughty in a way which isn't kosher.

"Some stuff does not work on MP" <-- hence the question. In this particular case, what is "some stuff"?

Just realized something. You're using LDG and that stuff? Didn't MiKRO fix some severe bugs which caused memory protection issues?

Yes, he did.
That's why I mention to check the codecs.

Sometimes, even QED hangs on MP I don't know why.
No I have not looked into QED codes.

As a clarification - my goal is not to criticize but to help out! You've taken the time to write some nice applications, and it's a pity if they have some issue with MP.

I have the impression that you're not entirely clear about the point of MP, and that you somehow solve things by disabling MP, but it's a great feature of the OS and it can indeed make your applications more stable :) So let's find the cause, shall we?

EDIT: Well if it's a CODEC problem then all is fine I guess :) Hope it works out, then.

I think it's a buffer overrun in this case on the stack.
This over wrote the data area and returns null to all the weather details and forecast information.
I think there was a change in the XML format... :(
You can see the effect of this if MP is off.... on the details & forecast windows.
I seldom view the details and forecast, so never know it was trashed.

No hard feelings. :)
And I already saw the bug. :D

Should be fixed soon.... but now I am going to listen to Mr Ben Bernanke testimony cause it will affect my work place.

Blarg, well poo happens. Seems you got some work to do there :-/

So! Enable MP - and get a proper punch in the face when pointers etc are trashed :) The alternative is like someone steals from your underwear drawer every now and then without you noticing. Happy coding :)

I did notice this but forgot to mention it. And the program often freezes my FireBee when I try to close this dialog.

Better late than never.
It comes on everytime I am on my Atari but I do not open the forecast/details windows,
I just have it show me the weather in Orlando.
That's why I did not see the error until now.

The issue was a XML element appeared later than it was expected, causing failure to extract other XML elements.
This was due to a sequential search for XML element. I just re-aligned the elements again & it works again.

But the other programs does not do this, so I am not sure what's the fix that is needed on the others you mentioned. :(
